Tesla owners and enthusiast community was expecting Elon Musk to announce the coming of Grok AI chatbot to their Tesla cars during the Grok 4 launch livestream yesterday.
However, Musk or anyone from his xAI team presenting Grok 4 didn’t mention the Tesla integration and rollout during the livestream. Later on, Tesla owner and influencer Sawyer Merritt posted this concern on X. To everyone’s surprise, Musk responded to this post.
“Grok is coming to Tesla vehicles very soon. Next week at the latest,” xAI & Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on X.

Rumors of Tesla-Grok integration began at the start of June. According to these early gossips, Grok would launch in Tesla vehicles with the over-the-air (OTA) software update version 2025.20.
However, even after the rollout of the Tesla update 2025.20.6, Grok didn’t come to Tesla vehicles. Nevertheless, rumors received confirmation as a Tesla hacker leaked screenshots, UI, and features of the Tesla-Grok integration.
Finally, Elon Musk has confirmed that Grok will come to Tesla cars next week at the earliest. Since Elon Musk is notorious for missing deadlines, this could stretch to the end of July or even further if technical issues prevent the general rollout.
Tesla would still consider a limited early access rollout of Grok AI into its cars for testing. Leaked screenshots suggest that Tesla employees are already testing this internally. Tesla might roll out an entirely new main branch of the Tesla software for Grok integration.
Interestingly, a conversational version of Tesla Grok AI would be integrated into Tesla vehicles. The earlier leaks suggest it has both male and female voices and personas that you can choose from.
It’s also confirmed from the leaked screenshots that using Grok in Tesla vehicles will require the $9.99/month ($99/year) Premium Connectivity bundle. This will allow Tesla and xAI to monetize Grok AI and even convert non-subscribers to subscribe to the Premium Connectivity package.
However, there has been no confirmation yet on which version of Grok is going to be available in Tesla vehicles.
