Tesla (TSLA) launches Certified Pre-Owned Program in the US, in-warranty cheapest Model Y or Model S $25K, Model 3 $20K

Tesla (TSLA) has launched a Certified Pre-Owned Program in the United States and Puerto Rico. Under this new offering, customers can buy a reasonably affordable used Tesla electric vehicle with a warranty.

The Tesla Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales launched this morning (August 14). The official website of the US-based electric automaker now has a dedicated page explaining the Certified Pre-Owned Program.

Tesla has put an entire inventory of certified pre-owned Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck EVs for sale. Interestingly, the prices of these pre-owned Tesla cars are very attractive (details below).

Tesla Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles

Warranty

The most important highlight of these Tesla certified pre-owned vehicles is the 1-year warranty. Interestingly, the warranty is available on vehicles that are even 5-6 years old and have been driven more than 50,000 miles.

The Tesla Pre-Owned Limited Warranty covers the vehicle for one year or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. Plus, keep any remaining coverage under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

On a new Tesla vehicle, the automaker offers a limited warranty of 8 years or 100,000 to 150,000 miles, depending on the model and variant (see the following chart for details).

Since these warranties are for a long period of time and 100,000+ miles, many certified pre-owned vehicles will have their battery and drive unit warranties still intact. Tesla is rolling over the remaining warranty period to new owners.

Additionally, when you purchase a certified pre-owned Tesla car, the automaker will provide detailed reports on ownership, title, and accident records.

Paint Correction and Repairs

Tesla’s confidence in these pre-owned vehicles shows that they have been very well maintained. Additionally, the automaker has made necessary repairs and required improvements to make these vehicles look as good as new.

“Verified for Safety and Quality. All Certified Pre-Owned Tesla vehicles are inspected and refurbished to meet our standards,” states the Tesla official website for certified pre-owned vehicles.

“Over 115 Quality Inspection Points: Checks cosmetic, functional, and structural components, ensuring the Tesla has no history of structural damage or airbag deployment,” the official web page further states.

Perks

All pre-owned cars come with one free month of FSD (Supervised) and Premium Connectivity.

Driving Range

Tesla’s inventory page for certified pre-owned vehicles lists each vehicle’s all-electric driving range in its specs summary (screenshots below).

Some of these certified pre-owned inventory vehicles are older than 3 or even 5 years. Tesla has adjusted the range based on the battery’s current health and after careful analysis of the available range.

Affordable Tesla Certified Pre-Owned Inventory

Upon browsing the new Tesla Certified Pre-Owned car inventory website, I came across some very affordable Tesla options.

For example, a 2020 Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus with 93,650 miles is listed at just $20,600. To further lower the price, you can also use trade-in credits.

Although the above-mentioned Model 3 and other older models are Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles, they can run the latest FSD v14 or v14.1 Lite advanced AI-based driver assistance software.

The certified pre-owned Teslas come with a one-month free FSD (Supervised) subscription. This free subscription period lets you easily decide whether to keep the Full Self-Driving feature or just enjoy driving your new certified pre-owned car.

Prices

If you want to own a Tesla vehicle with a reasonable range and don’t worry about the latest design refresh, these pre-owned certified cars are a perfect choice at reasonable prices.

For example, a few Tesla Model 3s are available at $20,600. Tesla Model Ys start at around $25,000. As of this writing, even a 2019 Tesla Model S 75D (Dual-Motor with 75 kWh battery) is available for $25,600.
