Tesla (TSLA) has rolled out some interior and performance upgrades for its least expensive electric vehicle, the Model 3 compact luxury sedan.
In the wake of the Cybercab and FSD, Tesla hasn’t forgotten about the vehicle that made it a mass-production car company.
After the launch of the Marine Blue and Frost Blue Metallic colors earlier this year, this is the 2nd major physical update to the Tesla Model 3.
Larger 16″ Screen
Tesla Model 3 has the following four variants available for sale:
- Model 3 RWD (base)
- Model 3 RWD Premium
- Model 3 AWD Premium
- Model 3 Performance (top)
All variants of the Tesla Model 3 are now equipped with a 16″ center touchscreen display with a QHD resolution (2560×1440). This new screen offers a higher refresh rate and crisper image and video quality.
Tesla Model 3 previously came with a 15.4″ center display.

Model 3 Performance Black Headliner
To make the interior of the top Tesla Model 3 Performance trim stand out, the automaker turned its gray headliner black. The other three variants still come with the old gray headliner.
In the image above and the video below, the new black headliner looks sporty. The estimated delivery timeline for the 2027 Model 3 Performance is October-November 2026.
Actually, Tesla first introduced the black headliner in the Model S Plaid. Since Tesla discontinued the Model S Plaid, the automaker applied the same sporty interior philosophy to the smaller Model 3 Performance.
Every Model 3 in the US, Puerto Rico & Mexico now comes with a larger 16" center touchscreen Additional highlights – Black headliner for Model 3 Performance, also more range (316 miles, up from 309) & improved peak power at 528hp – Model 3 Premium AWD accelerates even quicker at 3.8 seconds 0-60 (down from 4.2 seconds)

Headliner Comparison
Only the Premium and Performance trims of the Model 3 have the option to choose between the All Black and Black and White interiors.
The base Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive only comes with the black interior. However, only the Model 3 Performance comes with a black headliner (see comparison image below).

Performance and Range Upgrades
Tesla has increased the Model 3 Performance range from 309 to 312 miles. Tesla likely increased the range through software and system improvements rather than a bigger battery pack.
The Model 3 Premium AWD variant now comes with a 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds. Prior to this upgrade rollout, this mid-tier version had a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds.
Last year, Tesla introduced a paid Acceleration Boost upgrade that shaved off 0.4 seconds from the Model Y 0-60 mph time. New Model 3 AWD buyers will get the same acceleration improvement at no extra cost.
