With each passing day, we’re getting closer to the new Tesla Robotaxi unveiling event. According to recent reports, the event is going to be held on 10th October.

The venue however is not Giga Texas this time. Tesla (TSLA) is going to reveal its next-gen Robotaxi vehicle at the Warner Bros. Hollywood Studio in Burbank, Los Angeles County, California.

Friday last week, at least 10 Tesla cars were spotted at the Warner Bros. Studio Burbank’s parking lot. These Teslas included Model 3, Model Y, and Model X cars.

Since Tesla is going to conduct the Robotaxi unveiling at the Warne Bros. Studio, the presence of Tesla cars weeks before the event hints at the preparations.

Tesla is most probably also testing its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Autopilot at this huge 62 acre (25 ha) space. In the meantime, a few weeks of running Tesla cars on Autopilot at the location will allow Tesla neural net to train on the video data and get acquainted with the Warner Bros. Studio site.

A user on r/teslamotors subreddit commented that there are no manufacturer license plates on these Tesla cars which means these are just employees visiting the facility and there are no signs of Autopilot training or testing.

Interestingly, Tesla employees on the Autopilot ADAS (Advanced Driver’s Assistance System) testing and evaluation team have early access to the latest versions of the FSD software. These cars don’t necessarily have the Tesla manufacturer’s number plate. These employee testers also drive their own cars on the latest versions of FSD as their vehicles are marked in the system to gather data. This internal testing helps Tesla in deciding the timing of the public rollout of a version.

Tesla Robotaxi unveiling is the most anticipated event of this year in the self-driving and automotive industry. The automaker will demonstrate the capabilities of its Robotaxi (Cybercab) for which it has chosen the Warner Bros. Studio Burbank in California.

The success or failure of the Robotaxi project is critical for Tesla’s future. If the automaker is successful in creating a good public perception of the Tesla Cybercab through this event, it will have a big positive impact on the company’s stock with increased investor confidence.

Tesla originally planned the Robotaxi unveil on 8th August (8/8) but due to a design change of the smaller next-gen Tesla Robotaxi vehicle, the event got delayed to October. The automaker revealed a few glimpses of the Robotaxi interior and exterior in an official video earlier this year.

Stay tuned as we cover the event in a few weeks from now.
