Tesla launches the most value-for-money Cybertruck; the price might increase soon, says Musk

Tesla has launched the most reasonably priced Cybertruck yet. The new base version comes with a Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) powertrain and a catchy price tag of $59,990.

This new $59,990 Cybertruck AWD is only for sale in the United States. Interestingly, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, depending on the demand for this most affordable Cybertruck yet, the price would increase.

Last year, Tesla launched a very feature-stripped Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Cybertruck base version, priced at $69,990. After a few months of low sales volume, Tesla finally decided to discontinue this lower-end variant.

The latest Cybertruck AWD Standard cuts the price tag significantly, but still offers important features and exciting specs. Cybertruck AWD Premium is the mid-tier variant of Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) triangular-shaped electric pickup truck.

The price of Cybertruck Premium AWD is $79,990. The new Cybertruck Standard AWD is $20K cheaper than the Premium version. The features and specs it offers make it the most value-for-money option.

Price and Possible Increase

Aside from its controversial shape and unconventional design, the other factor holding back Cybertruck’s sales was its high price. The electric automaker might just have hit the sweet spot with this new AWD variant that it couldn’t with the launch of the RWD last year.

The $59,990 seems just the right price to take the risk with a non-traditional pickup truck, especially for US customers looking to transition to an EV pickup. This price point directly gives competition to the 2026 Ford 150’s LARIAT 4WD variants that are priced between $59,500 – $64,000 (source: Cars.com).

Chevy Silverado EV starts at $52,800, and the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup starts at $49,875, and the price goes upward for additional features and higher-end variants. So, the pricing of the new Cybertruck Standard AWD is so attractive that it can pull customers from other brands if they were previously barred by the price tag of the Tesla pickup truck.

If Tesla gets a rush of new Cybertruck orders for the AWD Standard trim, the price might increase. According to Musk’s hint on X, this could happen within the next 10 days or so.

“Depends on how much demand we see at this price level,” Elon Musk wrote on X in response to a follower’s questions asking, “How much it will be in 10 days???”
