Tesla update 2026.2.9 in Europe shows FSD v14-like blue underglow in Summon visualizations (release notes)

This past weekend, Tesla (TSLA) began the rollout of the 2026.2.9 software update in North America and Europe. Until now, a small number of Tesla vehicles, less than 1% of the total fleet, have received this update.

The 2026.2.9 update is rolling out only to the newer-generation Hardware 4 (HW4/AI4) Tesla vehicles. In North America, this new update is coupled with FSD v14.2.2.5.

Since FSD (Supervised) is not available in Europe yet, version 2026.2.9 update is released as a standalone software update without FSD.

Interestingly, Tesla also renamed any feature named with ‘Autopilot’ to ‘Autosteer’. This is a planned phase-out of basic Autopilot as it gets replaced by traffic-aware cruise control (TACC) and related features (refer to official release notes below).

After installing the 2026.2.9 software update in your Tesla vehicle, the ‘Navigate on Autopilot’ feature will be renamed to ‘Navigate on Autosteer’. Additionally, Tesla has renamed ‘FSD Computer’ wherever mentioned in the information to ‘AI Computer’.

The term AI Computer refers to the vehicle’s on-board supercomputer chip that processes the visual data coming from the car’s cameras to run Full Self-Driving (FSD). It also adapts to changes made with each new FSD update that Tesla’s neural networks prepare after processing heaps of data from the Tesla fleet.

The latest AI Computer installed in Tesla vehicles is AI4, previously called HW4. The legacy HW3 AI Computer is not capable of running the latest FSD v14 AI vision software for FSD (Supervised).

FSD v14-like Blue Underglow on Summon in 2026.2.9

Tesla owners getting the new 2026.2.9 update in Europe noted a subtle change in the vehicle’s driving visualizations. A blue underglow appears under the vehicle’s on-screen rendering (visualization) when the Summon feature is engaged.

A blue underglow is specific to FSD v14 and its subversion point releases. Summon is part of Autopilot/FSD features and is used by drivers/owners to call the car, and it comes to them autonomously (especially in parking lots and from garages).

There is a thin chance that Europe is going to get FSD (Supervised) this year. The blue underglow on the vehicle’s rendering suggests FSD v14 is running on AI4 vehicles in shadow mode.

Tesla owners also report that the Summon feature is working better compared to the previous software update. “The car also feels less robotic when using summon. You can definitely feel that it’s much more confident as well,” a Tesla owner wrote on X.
