Tesla (TSLA) started the rollout of its 2025.26.7 over-the-air (OTA) software update on Sunday, 10th August. On the first day, the deployment was slow, but in the following days, the automaker sent multiple large waves to its customer cars.

According to the official release notes for 2025.26.7, this point release is a minor update that contains bug fixes and security improvements.

As of this writing, more than 15% of the Tesla fleet has received the new 2025.26.7 software update (source: TeslaFi.com). The majority of users are directly upgraded to this latest release from last month’s 2025026.4 update, skipping the 2025.26.6 point release version entirely.

The 2025.26.7 update has the same release notes as the 2025.26.4 version. It contains Grok Beta, Light Sync, Dashcam update, and other features.

No new features have been added in this Tesla update. Tesla owners also haven’t reported any unlisted features in the 2025.26.7 update yet.

No Grok AI for Tesla Cars in Canada

Grok was deployed to Tesla vehicles last month with the 2025.26 (main branch) update. This move by Tesla allowed its customers to enjoy Grok conversational AI in their cars for free. Grok in Tesla cars is currently Beta.

Tesla cars with the AMD Ryzen graphics processor (HW3/HW4) are capable of running Grok. These compatible Tesla vehicles in the United States got the Grok with the 2025.26 or its subversion point-release updates. However, Tesla owners still haven’t received Grok despite getting the latest 2025.26.7 OTA update.

Tesla is not releasing Grok to its Canadian car owners because of the current and upcoming consumer privacy policies of the country. The proposed C-27 bill is under consideration in the House of Commons; Tesla is preparing for compliance in advance.

The C-27 bill also proposes laws to govern consumer privacy related to the use of AI called the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA). This bill is not yet in effect, but the US-based automaker and Elon Musk-owned xAI are working to follow the requirements even before the bill becomes law.

Because it’s conversational AI, Grok can be used during a drive. This is potentially a distraction for the driver. Tesla is also facing delays in deploying Grok because of regulatory compliance with Transport Canada, the country’s authority for transport regulations.

As we all know that government approvals and regulations are generally a slow process, predicting a timeline for Tesla owners getting Grok in their vehicles is currently not possible. It could be months or even years down the road before getting Grok in Canadian Tesla cars.
