It’s been a few days since Tesla (TSLA) released the FSD v14.2 (2025.38.9.5) update to a limited number of early access customer cars. In this short period of time, Tesla owners performed a good amount of testing of FSD v14.2 and shared their experiences online.
In this post, we will cover a few reviews of FSD v14.2 in the specific scenario where the vehicle tries to handle parking lots and park itself automatically.
With the launch of FSD v14, Tesla introduced the Arrival Options feature, which allows for multiple parking options at the destination. One of which is ‘Parking Lot’.
Generally, FSD v14.2 handles indoor and outdoor parking lots well. Most owners experienced successful automatic parking on the first attempt, and it handled parking lot traffic with ease and safety as well. However, in some specific scenarios, FSD v14.2 needed human supervision before it made a mistake (that’s why it’s still called ‘FSD (Supervised)‘.

FSD v14.2: Rollout Status
Initially, Tesla released FSD v14.2 to a limited number of early access beta testers. Now, after a few days of its initial release, Tesla has expanded the circle of Tesla cars that received the FSD v14.2 update.
As of this writing, around 4% of the total Tesla US/Canada fleet has received FSD v14.2 (source: TeslaFi.com). Cybertruck units in the fleet are also getting the FSD v14.2 (2025.38.9.5) OTA update.
FSD v14.2 was intended to be the wide release version. However, the current status of its deployment still can’t be considered a wide release. Perhaps, Tesla will further expand its availability near the Christmas holidays.
FSD v14.2: Parking Lot Performance
Scenario 1: Outdoor Parking Lot Regression
A Tesla owner experienced regressive behavior in FSD v14.2 compared to the previous FSD v14.1 point releases. While he parked his Model Y at a parking lot, FSD v14.2 rubbed the concrete boundary of the parking spot.
Roger Kappler thinks that FSD v14.2 does not use the front bumper camera during autonomous parking, while the previous FSD v14.1 versions did use it.
He wrote in his post on X:
Just had FSD 14.2 trying to leave this parking spot (that it nosed in before being parked for about 20 minutes) moving forward, with a lot of confidence, before I stopped it… Parking lots are the one area where 14.2 regressed imo.
Scenario 2: Underground Parking Garage
In the following short video, Tesla influencer Zack showed his Model Y entering an underground parking garage of an apartment or office building.
His car running on FSD v14.2 found an empty and convenient parking spot autonomously and parked itself. Interestingly, it also stopped at a clearance barrier upon entering the garage.
All of this process took less than a minute. The overall experience looked smooth. However, Zack also confirms that parking was better in previous FSD v14.1 point releases. He wrote on X:
Yeah, I am having insanely good drives, most of them perfect. Got it to do a drive thru yesterday and that blew my mind how good it did it. Parking isn’t as good as early 14.1 versions, I also wish it would be ~6 inches further forward to the ticket booth and drive thru windows
Scenario 3: Cybertruck Parking with FSD v14.2
Cybertruck owners, however, are reporting that FSD v14.2 has improved their parking lot to parking lot experience. Tesla’s large and boxy electric pickup truck is getting better at auto park with each subversion release of Full Self-Driving.
Because the vehicle is too large, Tesla FSD v14.2 takes extra care when parking. This is why Cybertruck owners are experiencing slow autonomous parking, but safety is always first for Tesla.
