Tesla CEO Elon Musk reached Germany on Tuesday to a warm welcome by the Telsa Community and the German Government. First, he went to the CureVac HQ located in Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg to discuss the RNA vaccine developments.
After long hours of meetings at CureVac, he left the town for Berlin/Brandenburg to meet the state’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke and other top government officials on Wednesday.
When leaving the CureVac HQ dozens of German Tesla Community members and the vaccine research company’s employees gathered outside the building and greeted Elon Musk. His Fans also took selfies from a distance as everyone wore a mask and Musk was wrapped a bandana around his face as a mask.
A 21-year old Mechatronics student spent hours waiting outside the CureVac building holding a placard saying “I want to work for you”. His effort didn’t go fruitless as Elon Musk discussed his home-made electric bike for a few brief moments.
Brandenburg Prime Minister Woidke released a statement in an official Facebook post after his meeting with Elon Musk, he said (auto-translated with my tweaks):
Today I had a good and focused conversation with #Tesla boss Elon Musk in #Berlin together with Minister of WirtschaftsministerJörg #Steinbach. Elon Musk is involved in all the details of the 🚘 Gigafactory #Grünheide. The goal remains that the first cars will roll off the assembly line in the summer of 2021 But we still have a lot of work to do. Planning security, concentration, and legal certainty are crucial for this.
Member of the German Bundestag Peter Altmaier assured Elon Musk that he will have all the cooperation he needs from the Brandenburg government. He also told Elon Musk that the German nation is proud of his car manufacturing plant in the country, Bloomberg reported.
#WaitingForElon at Giga Berlin
As Elon Musk stated earlier this week that visiting the Gigafactory Berlin is one of the main reasons he is headed to Germany. But he wasn’t able to reach the factory as we can see he had a busy schedule all day including a long trip from Tübingen to Berlin (~336 miles / 541 kilometers via air travel).
Tesla fans and observers like Tobias Lindh waited for Elon Musk at the Giga Berlin all day but they had to leave without meeting or catching a glimpse of him. The result of this sadness got us a few great photos of the Berlin Gigafactory at sunset.
Interestingly, Tesla Kid from Grünheide who makes Tesla Gigafactory drone videos was able to finally meet and talk to Elon Musk yesterday, he asked him “Is it possible to get an internship at Neuralink”, “Yeah, I mean it’s in California, but yes!” replied Elon Musk.
Tesla Kid posted the audio clip of this short conversation with enthusiasm to his Twitter feed:
Now on the 2nd day of Elon Musk’s presence in Berlin, the Tesla Community members have already started waiting for him outside the Gigafactory.
