Tesla Model 3 is undoubtedly the best-selling electric vehicle of all time. Last year among other achievements, it sold more than any car in Switzerland. Yes, Model 3 did not just beat all EV sales in Switzerland, but also all types of cars including petrol and diesel ones.
The following chart released by the Swiss IVT Astra shows that Tesla Model 3 has beaten the sales of every car in the country in 2021.
Tesla sold 5,072 units of the Model 3 compact electric luxury sedan in Switzerland in 2021. The closes Model 3 competitor in the country was the internal combustion engine (ICE) car, Škoda Octavia, with 4,969 units sold.

The closest electric vehicle that came to the Model 3 was the Volkswagen ID.3 which came at the 19th position on the 2021 Swiss car sales chart. VW sold 2,423 units of the ID.3 in Switzerland last year.
According to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office, electric vehicle adoption in the country is growing at an exponential rate. Comparing Nov 2021 to Nov 2020, the new car registrations for electric vehicles grew +63%.

Interestingly, the sales of petrol and diesel vehicles dropped by 27% and 59% respectively. Hybrid vehicles are somewhat showing a stable trend. But electric vehicles have made a big jump in adoption last year in Switzerland — and the biggest credit goes to Tesla for this massive change.
Tesla Model Y was first spotted getting shipped in Switzerland via trains in November 2021, so did not make it to the above top chart. The pace at which Model Y is being sold in Europe and Switzerland will make it to the top 10 this year in my opinion.
Tesla has made this historic achievement even when its European car manufacturing plant Gigafactory Berlin was not able to start production in 2021. Once Giga Berlin is functional this year, the Model Y sales graph will reach the top position very fast.
