Tesla (TSLA) finally brings the Grok AI Assistant to its customer cars in Europe with the 2026.2.6 over-the-air (OTA) software update. In July last year, the automaker released this feature to Tesla vehicles in North America.
Grok was deployed late to European Tesla cars due to strict privacy and regulatory requirements, such as the GDPR, the Digital Services Act (DSA), and the EU AI Act. Tesla had to acquire multiple approvals to deploy Grok AI in Tesla vehicles in the European region.
With the 2026.2.6 software update, Tesla cars in Europe with the AMD Ryzen GPU and Premium Connectivity package can have Grok AI. The new AMD Ryzen-based APU is installed in Tesla vehicles made in or after December 2021.
As of this writing, the rollout of the 2026.2.6 OTA update is a wide release. Around 12-13% of the Tesla global fleet has this latest update installed in their cars (data sources: TeslaFi.com, stats.tessie.com).

Since its first rollout last year, in the last 7 months, Tesla and xAI have further polished the Grok AI for its cars. In the start, it just answered questions and talked to drivers/occupants during journeys. In the 2025 Holiday Update, Tesla also integrated Navigation Commands using Grok AI.
Grok integration makes driving or travelling in a Tesla vehicle even more enjoyable. Teslas are also the first of any vehicles to deploy such a feature-rich AI assistant in the automotive industry. The interesting part is that it keeps getting better with each new software update for free.
The 2026.2.6 update is relatively new, so we will have to wait a little for Grok demos from Europe. Except for the addition of Grok Navigation Beta, the release notes of this update are the same as the previous 2026.2.3 update, and the hidden features are also the same as the last major update.
Tesla Update 2026.2.6 Official Release Notes
Grok with Navigation Commands (Beta) [Europe / AMD Ryzen only]
You can now talk to Grok, an intelligent assistant built by xAI. You can choose Grok’s voice and personality, ranging from Storyteller to Unhinged. Grok can add and edit navigation destinations, becoming your personal guide.
You can ask Grok to navigate to the best Thai restaurant near you, find a Supercharger within walking distance of a coffee shop, or even plan a romantic sightseeing tour. Requires Premium Connectivity or a WiFi connection.

Unlatching Charge Cable
Charging can now be stopped and the charge cable released by pulling and holding the rear left door handle for 3 seconds, provided the vehicle is unlocked, or a recognized key is nearby. This is especially useful when the charge cable unlatch button does not work, or a charging adapter is stuck in the charge port. You can still release the cable using the vehicle touchscreen or the Tesla app.

Child Left Alone Detection
If an unattended child is detected, the vehicle will flash the exterior indicator lights, play an alert tone, and send a notification to your Tesla app. This will repeat at regular intervals until you return to your vehicle.

Minor Fixes
