NASA Crew 2 astronauts returned home from the International Space Stations (ISS) on Monday 8th Nov 2021. As SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule spacecraft re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere, it was briefly seen above Starbase, Boca Chica, Texas.

Upon reentry, Dragon Endeavor looked like a yellow burning object flying at high speeds above the SpaceX Starbase launch facility. Probably a good way for Dragon to say hi to its next-generation rockets and spaceships at this location.

The team from NASASpaceFlight.com luckily recorded the Dragon reentry burn and flyby as it passed over Starbase. The 24/7 live coverage of Starbase and Starship gave us this gem of a video.

NASA released photos of the Dragon Endeavor as it was attempting to land in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Pensacola, Florida. From a distance, the Dragon capsule looks like a thin yellow fireball dropping from the sky.

The NASA-SpaceX partnership brought back human spaceflight to the United States after more than a decade when Crew 1 was launched to the ISS last year. This was the 2nd time NASA used SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft to send astronauts to the ISS and bring them safely back to Earth.

After the successful splashdown of Crew 2 Dragon, SpaceX is fully prepared to send the 3rd NASA mission to the ISS. SpaceX is targeting the Crew 3 launch to the ISS aboard the Dragon spacecraft today (Wednesday Nov 10) at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

SpaceX estimates that the weather is 80% favorable for today’s liftoff. Hope all goes well and we enjoy this launch like the ones before.
