Tesla (TSLA) has made the newest FSD v14.3.6 AI software update available to a wider number of AI4/HW4 vehicles. Interestingly, now the Cybertruck owners are also reporting getting the FSD v14.3.6 update.
FSD v14.3.6 was first spotted on HW4 Teslas on July 21. Since then, the automaker has been constantly releasing it in waves to a wider number of Tesla vehicles in the United States and Canada every day.
The downside of the FSD v14.3.6 point release is that the majority of users have reported some regressions compared to the previous FSD v14.3.5 release.
Multiple reports have suggested that brake-stuttering (confusion in braking) and shadow braking issues have returned in the FSD v14.3.6 update. This new update has shown regressions in multiple areas like parking, left-lane camping, and highway exit issues (video below).

FSD v14: Merging of Firmware Version (2026.20.6.11) for HW3 and HW4 Teslas
These regressions might be a result of the firmware merging between the FSD v14 branches for the HW3 Lite and HW4 full-blown versions.
With the release of the FSD v14 Lite’s last release, the Tesla AI software team has unified the firmware version 2026.20.6.11 across both Lite and HW4 Full Self-Driving branches.
Both 2026.20.6.11-based FSD v14 Lite and v14.3.6 have gone wide release. Although HW3 users have experienced upgrades and improvements, it felt like a regression for HW4/AI4 Tesla owners.
The unification of the firmware versions is a good sign. This will ease the rollout and tracking of the software releases in the future for both HW4 and HW3 Tesla cars.
FSD v14.3.6 Reviews
FSD YouTuber and Tesla Model S owner Black Tesla / YouTube shared a long test of FSD v14.3.6 on his channel (video below). In the first few minutes, he also experienced brake stuttering like other HW4 owners.
Except for this shadow braking issue, the rest of the ~40-minute ride on FSD v14.3.6 was mostly good.
Honestly, @Tesla_AI, FSD v14.3.6 is buttery smooth and polished. I would be completely fine using it until v15.

I would say put all hands on deck for FSD v15. We would all rather have that than v14.3.7 or v14.3.8.

Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14.3.6 includes:
- Upgraded the Reinforcement Learning (RL) stage of training the FSD neural network, resulting in improvements in a wide variety of driving scenarios.
- Upgraded the neural network vision encoder, improving understanding in rare and low-visibility scenarios, strengthening 3D geometry understanding, and expanding traffic sign understanding.
- Rewrote the AI compiler and runtime from the ground up with MLIR2, resulting in 20% faster reaction time and improving model iteration speed.
- Mitigated unnecessary lane biasing and minor tailgating behaviors.
- Increased decisiveness of parking spot selection and maneuvering.
- Improved parking location pin prediction, now shown on a map with a (P) icon.
- Enhanced response to emergency vehicles, school buses, right-of-way violators, and other rare vehicles.
- Improved handling of small animals by focusing RL1 training on harder examples and adding rewards for better proactive safety.
- Improved traffic light handling at complex intersections with compound lights, curved roads, and yellow light stopping – driven by training on hard RL examples sourced from the Tesla fleet.
- Improved handling for rare and unusual objects extending, hanging, or leaning into the vehicle path by sourcing infrequent events from the fleet.
- Improved handling of temporary system degradations by maintaining control and automatically recovering without driver intervention, reducing unnecessary disengagements.
- Unified the model between Actually Smart Summon, FSD, and Robotaxi for more capable and reliable behavior.
- Actually Smart Summon max speed is now increased to 8mph (13km/h).
- Help Tesla improve Self-Driving by selecting an intervention reason on the main screen after taking over.
- You can now see distance traveled in FSD (Supervised) without an intervention. The Self-Driving App will also show your longest intervention-free streak.
- Parking options now display on the map when arriving at your destination.

- Expand reasoning to all behaviors beyond destination handling.
- Add pothole avoidance.

V14 lite had many of the same issues. And feels like a huge regression for many vs V12.

How soon will I get my software upgrade? It’s now 30 days since the June 29 release and it’s only 10% so far. It will be a cold day in hell by the time everyone gets an opportunity to upgrade their software.
