Tesla has allowed its customers to subscribe to the online vehicle service manuals for a fee of $0 for 1 year (365 days). This is an interesting development as it allows the public access to tons of vital information about the Tesla vehicles including the following:
- Service Manuals, Parts Manuals (parts catalogs), and Body Repair info
- Tooling Catalogs and Wiring Diagrams
- Service Bulletins
- Labor Codes and Times
- Circuit & Connector Reference Guides
- Charging Product Manuals
This makes it easy for the customers, first responders, and certified Tesla repair shops to work on a Tesla vehicle. This free access to information and diagrams will also enable re-building a salvaged Tesla vehicle to experts like Rich Rebuilds who have been asking for the right to repair for a long time.
In the login subscription area of the Tesla service website (https://service.tesla.com/service-subscription), Tesla has listed all the necessary information and diagrams anyone would ever need for their vehicle. These manuals and information is available for the entire current lineup of Tesla cars i.e. Model S, 3, X, Y, and also the old 1st-gen Tesla Roadster as well.
As soon as I got this information (Thanks to @green/Twitter for the hat tip), I rushed to sign up for this service and I was actually able to subscribe for $0 for the next year. However, it is not clear if this will remain free for the users after one year, we probably will have to wait to know that.
This wealth of technical information provided by Tesla will help with minor repairs done by technically sound customers themselves and also give the users a chance to learn deeply about their vehicles.
Tesla Emergency Response Guides
This information area has links to critical information for emergency first-responders for all the Tesla vehicles (emergency quick response PDF manuals added below for easy access).
Tesla has released these Emergency Response Guides (aka First Responders Guides/Information) to prepare and train first responders for proper response in an emergency situation like an accident or fire incident involving a Tesla vehicle.
Since Teslas have a large Lithium-ion battery that despite safety measures can catch fire in a rare incident needs a trained first responder team to fight the fire and minimize damage. In the past, we have seen first responders and firefighters not prepared for such a situation, and this caused damage that might have been prevented.
