Musk buying Ryanair is not a joke anymore, RYAAY rises 2.5% after-hours

Tesla and SpaceX CEO, owner of X (formerly Twitter), and founder of several companies, and the richest man in the world, Elon Musk is certainly annoyed by Ryanair’s CEO Michael O’Leary, calling him an idiot.

Musk has his own way of expressing discomfort. In this case, he first joked about buying the airline Ryanair (RYAAY). History tells that Elon’s jokes on X (Twitter) have turned into serious multi-billion-dollar deals.

It all started when Ryanair refused to install Starlink satellite internet antennas on their planes. According to O’Leary, Musk’s Starlink satellite receivers create aero drag. This will result in an annual fuel cost of approximately $250 million. However, Musk denied these claims, calling the airline’s CEO ‘misinformed’.

Ryanair’s current market cap is $35 billion. Interestingly, after Musk’s multiple X posts showing his serious intent to acquire the company, as of this writing, the airline’s share price rose by 2.52% in after-hours trading.

With a current net worth of $681 billion, Musk can easily acquire Ryanair. He did not hesitate in buying Twitter (now X) for $44 billion in 2022. He fired the Twitter CEO and other executives; the same story is on the verge of repeating itself with Ryanair.

The feud didn’t stop here. Ryanair’s official X account also took a jab at Elon Musk during an outage at X by posting, “perhaps you need Wi-Fi @elonmusk?”

This further infuriated Elon Musk. He asked his social media followers if he should buy Ryanair and put someone actually named Ryan as the CEO. This was the fun part, but you can expect anything from the man named Elon Musk.

At the time of changing the name of Twitter to X, the world thought at first that Musk was just messing around. But, he actually did it. Since Musk’s comment, the audience on X is suggesting different people named Ryan for the next CEO of Ryanair. Some are even ready to change their names to get the lucrative position (pun intended).

Elon Musk even ran a poll on X, asking anyone if he should buy Ryanair. As of this writing, Elon Musk received around 77% votes in favor of buying Ryanair. The poll has received more than 29 million views on X and around 766,000 votes. The poll will close in around 11 hours.
