Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) released its Q3 2026 vehicle deliveries and energy business numbers. The sales figures show little growth from the previous quarter.
The automaker delivered 486,532 electric vehicles in the third quarter, while it produced 464,391 units. Tesla sold 22,141 more vehicles than it produced.
Most of these extra vehicles were likely the sold Tesla Model S and X inventory and Cybertruck units rolling quarter over quarter.
SpaceX has purchased an undisclosed number of Cybertrucks from Tesla. However, they cannot be in the thousands. In Q2 2026, Tesla also sold 28,368 more vehicles than it produced.
Tesla had produced 50,363 more vehicles in Q1 2026 than it could sell to customers. The automaker appears to have cleared this excess rollover inventory over the last two quarters.
| Production | Deliveries | |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3/Y | 457,387 | 478,237 |
| Other Models | 7,004 | 8,295 |
| Total | 464,391 | 486,532 |

Tesla Deliveries Comparison: QoQ and YoY
Compared to Q2, the automaker delivered 6,406 more vehicles, which is a growth of just ~1.3% QoQ. Tesla vehicle deliveries haven’t grown, but the automaker has achieved consistency just below the 500k mark.
In Q3 2025, Tesla delivered 497,099 cars. In a year-over-year (YoY) Q3 comparison, Tesla deliveries have dropped by 2.1% (10,567 fewer vehicles sold in Q3 2026).
Tesla has just started delivering its Class 8 electric Semi truck. However, Tesla Semi sales will not add much to overall unit sales in Q4, but given the prices, they would add significantly to the company’s automotive revenue.
Tesla discontinued Model S and X in Q2. This has also slightly affected the overall delivery numbers. If Tesla can somehow start selling the new Cybercab robotaxi, it has the potential to push vehicle deliveries beyond the 500,000 units per quarter barrier.
The production and deliveries report does not include the number of Full Self-Driving subscriptions. Tesla will release this number in its Q2 2026 financial update on October 21 along with the earnings call.
Tesla Energy Growth in Q3 2026
Tesla sold 13.7 GWh of energy generation (solar), battery storage, and deployment products in Q3 2026. This is slightly up from 13.5 GWh of Tesla Energy sales in Q2.
In the same quarter last year, Tesla sold 12.5 GWh of energy storage products. Compared YoY for Q3, Tesla has achieved a growth of 10.5% in its energy business segment.
