Tesla (TSLA) is rolling out an over-the-air (OTA) software update that unlocks FSD v14 Lite for older Model S and Model X cars.
There are two groups of Hardware 3 (HW3)-based Tesla Model S and X vehicles:
- Design-refreshed 2021 Model S/X with the HW3 AI computer and new AMD Ryzen APU
- Pre-design-refresh Model S and X with Intel Atom GPU (also known as MCU2 at the time)
Model S/X cars with the Intel GPU have not received FSD v14 Lite or any of its subversion point releases until yesterday. However, Tesla hasn’t forgotten about this group of customers.
Just a few hours ago, the Tesla AI team began rolling out FSD v14.3 Lite to legacy Model S and Model X (HW3 + Intel). This OTA update includes firmware version 2026.38.5.1.
The firmware update version 2026.38.5 (FSD v14.3.12) began rolling out earlier this week to HW4 Tesla vehicles.
The new FSD v14.3 Lite does not include the Halloween Mode feature (see the FSD v14.3 Lite official release notes below).
Based on currently available information, the 2026.38.5.1 update for Intel-based HW3 cars includes only the Speed Profiles feature.
Other features like Arrival Options, UI Improvements, and Start Self-Driving from Park are reserved only for AMD Ryzen-based HW3 Teslas.
“FSD Supervised v14 Lite now rolling out to Intel Model S&X,” the automaker announced on X via its Tesla Super Intelligence account. This X account was previously @TeslaAI.
FSD v14.3 Lite Rollout Status
Of course, when the FSD v14.3 Lite (2026.38.5.1) update rolls out to much older Intel HW3 Teslas, it will also be available to the rest of the HW3 fleet.
According to Teslascope data, Tesla has started pushing the new 2026.38.5.1 update to many HW3 cars. This software update will roll out widely in the coming days.
Owners of the legacy Intel-based Model S and X have also started reporting that they are getting the new FSD v14.3 Lite update.
FSD v14.3 Lite (2026.38.5.1): Official Release Notes
FSD (Supervised) v14 Lite (2026.20.6.10) includes:
- Distilled the intelligence from HW4 V14 into HW3. This allows HW3 to directly learn how to handle scenarios using HW4 V14 as a guide. This process unlocks the improvements that have been made to HW4 including Reinforcement Learning (RL) and offline models for HW3.
- Improved both proactive and reactive responsiveness across a wide variety of categories including navigation handling, merges and forks, pedestrian interactions, traffic lights, and vehicle cut-in scenarios.
- Improved general comfort in nominal scenarios through fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering and more consistent lane centering.
- Introduced parking, unparking, and reversing capabilities.
- Added Arrival options for you to select where FSD should park: in a Parking Lot, on the Street, in a Driveway, or at the Curbside.
- Speed Profiles are now available at all times, to further customize driving style preferences.
Speed Profiles
FSD (Supervised) will now determine the appropriate speed, based on a mix of driver profile, speed limit, and surrounding traffic.
- Introduced new Speed Profile SLOTH, which comes with lower speeds & more conservative lane selection than CHILL.
- Driver Profile now has a stronger impact on behavior. The more assertive the profile, the higher the max speed.
- Right scroll-wheel up/down now adjusts Speed Profile waiting rather than your precise max speed offset selection in mph/kph.
