The US-based Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) gifts a new color to its European customers of the Model 3 compact luxury electric sedan on the 4th of July.
Tesla updated its online car configurator for Europe today showing the new Quicksilver paint option in the palette.
Potential Tesla customers have been asking for the Quicksilver color for Model 3 for a while now. The automaker launched the new Tesla Model 3 Highland in Europe last year and in the US earlier this year.
The new Quicksilver premium paint option for the Tesla Model 3 costs an additional 2,000 Euros in Europe (cost might differ in some countries, refer to your local Tesla online car configurator).

Quicksilver is a highly-pigmented metallic paint, designed to change depending on viewing angle & light. According to Tesla, these new Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red paints have up to 13 layers of paint to give them the look of hand-painted colors.
Tesla originally launched the Quicksilver color for the Model Y in Europe in 2022. At the time, the Giga Berlin paint shop was the only factory that could produce this color.
Quicksilver color became a hit in Europe and helped accelerate sales of the Model Y in the region. It took Tesla almost 1 and a half years to bring to the US market. Tesla had to upgrade the Giga Texas and Fremont car factory paint shops to add the Quicksilver color for the Model Y electric SUVs manufactured in the United States.
Tesla Model 3 cars are exported to Europe from China. These vehicles are produced at Giga Shanghai and Tesla has now upgraded its Chinese Gigafactory’s paint shop to offer the new Quicksilver color.
Before Giga Shanghai started producing Model 3 cars, Tesla used to ship Model 3s from the US to Europe. Now Europe has its own Model Y factory (Giga Berlin) and Model 3s are shipped from China.
It will be interesting to witness the impact of the Quicksilver color on Tesla Model 3 sales in Europe. Currently, there are only rendered images of the Quicksilver Model 3 found in the Tesla car configurator, the automaker has not released press photos of it yet.
Another great comparison would be between the Model 3 and Model Y in the Quicksilver color side-by-side. We will only be able to see that once customers start getting deliveries of the new paint. Tesla vehicle configurator is showing an estimated delivery date of July – August for the new Quicksilver Model 3s. This implies that the automaker has already imported a batch of these vehicles to Europe and they’re ready for delivery.
Since Model Y in the US already has the Quicksilver color option, it should not take long for Tesla to introduce it in North America. It could take from a few weeks to a few months.
