“We, Robot” Robotaxi event rumors: Tesla Van unveiling, Semi FSD, Optimus demonstration, more

The Tesla (TSLA) Robotaxi (Cybercab) unveiling event, “We, Robot,” is less than 24 hours away. Consider this a Tesla AI Day on steroids.

The hype of the Tesla Cybercab reveal event is already through the roof. Most of the people who have got the invites and tickets have already embarked on their journey if they live in a faraway city or another state.

Since Tesla has successfully hidden most of the design and engineering details of the company’s upcoming Cybercab robotaxi, the rumors and speculations about the vehicle and the event are also at an all-time high.

Tesla Robotaxi Fleet Autonomous Driving Demonstration

I said this is going to be a typical AI Day on steroids because there will not only be theoretical explanations this time — there will be practical demonstrations of vehicles driving autonomously.

A strong rumor circulating the social media is that Tesla is not just going to perform a Cybercab robotaxi demonstration on a single vehicle. Tesla has been HD mapping the Warner Bros. Studios Burbank where Tesla cars have been paying visits in numbers since last month.

Tesla might have multiple prototypes of its Robotaxi ready to perform the demonstration. The Warner Brothers Studios is a large 62-acre (25-hectare) space. Tesla will probably involve hundreds of other Tesla cars running on FSD (Supervised) during the demonstration. This will create many real-life scenarios to challenge the Tesla Cybercab robotaxi to overcome.

Tesla Semi FSD Demo

Tesla Semi-truck is the only production vehicle left in the Tesla fleet that has not reportedly received the Full Self-Driving (FSD) software yet. Tesla even enabled FSD (Supervised) 12.5 on the Cybertruck earlier this month.

The FSD fleet demonstration and simulation of the real-world scenarios during the Tesla Robotaxi unveiling event at Warner Bros. Studios will most probably include the Cybertruck. Tesla Semi might also join the virtual world at the movie set if Tesla decides to enable FSD on the Semi. Rumors suggest that the automaker is preparing for it.

Optimus Update and Demo

The possibility of the Tesla Optimus humanoid robot joining the Cybercab robotaxi demonstration is very strong. It’s anticipated that Tesla Optimus will be joining the demonstration as human pedestrians at crosswalks and as vulnerable road users (VRUs).

A Tesla Optimus progress update is also due on Tesla (TSLA) for a long time. This event is the perfect time and venue to provide information on the Tesla humanoid robot update and some live demos to the audience and the world watching the live stream.

Optimus joining the demos will fulfill the meaning of the “We, Robot” tagline of the Robotaxi reveal event.

Tesla Van Rumor

The most interesting speculation about the Tesla Robotaxi event is the possible unveiling of the Tesla Van. This rumor is based on Tesla’s past surprises like the automaker revealing the next-gen Roadster at the Tesla Semi unveiling event.

An additional surprise doesn’t hurt, does it? At this year’s Investor Day presentation, Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared the following slide of its current and upcoming vehicles. This slide shows the potential market in terms of sales for each vehicle.

Interestingly, two of these upcoming vehicles were hidden under a cloak. One is definitely the smaller more affordable vehicle platform which can also be used for the Tesla Cybercab robotaxi and the other is most probably the Tesla Van because the size and shape of it under the cloak gives us a comparison between the small and large vehicles.

Tesla fan artist @DominicBRNKMN on X (Twitter) designed a couple of Tesla Van concepts that he thinks the automaker will also be revealing at the Robotaxi event besides the Cybercab. The Tesla Community has already named this van the CyberVan based on the Cybertruck.
