Tesla (TSLA) crushes critics by delivering around ~500k EVs in Q3 2025

Tesla (TSLA) released its Q3 2025 vehicle production and delivery numbers this morning. The EV-maker caught the bears of Wall Street unguarded this time by posting a record vehicle deliveries quarter.

Interestingly, Tesla delivered more electric vehicles this quarter than it produced — clearing the excess inventory from the previous quarter. The automaker manufactured 447,450 cars and Cybertrucks in Q3 while it sold 497,099 electric vehicles.

Of course, the major contributor to Tesla’s deliveries is the new Model Y Juniper. Last month, Tesla launched the new Model Y Performance in Europe, and this apparently was an end-of-quarter sales catalyst.

Out of the total 497,099 units sold, Tesla Model Y and Model 3 sales contributed 481,166 deliveries (~97%). Tesla Model S, X, and the Cybertruck sold a combined 15,933 units (~3% only).

Tesla wrote in its press release:

In the third quarter, we produced over 447,000 vehicles, delivered over 497,000 vehicles and deployed 12.5 GWh of energy storage products – a record for both deliveries and deployments.

Thank you to all our customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders and supporters who helped us achieve these results.

Interestingly, both Tesla vehicle deliveries and energy deployment business saw a ~30% growth each QoQ compared to Q2 2025. Tesla sold 9.6 GWh or energy storage and deployment products in the previous quarter, which has grown to 12.5 GWh in Q3.

Q3 2025 is also Tesla’s record quarter in terms of vehicle deliveries. The closest to this record was Q4 2024, in which the automaker delivered 495,570 EVs. With 497,099 cars sold in Q3, Tesla might surpass the 500,000 mark in Q4 2025.

Tesla lists Model S, X, and Cybertruck delivery numbers under the ‘Other Models’ category. Last quarter, the sales of these three vehicles combined resulted in 10,933 units. In Q3, this number grew to 15,933, which is a sharp ~53% growth.

To increase the sales of Model S and Model X, Tesla introduced the Luxe Package in August. However, it’s not confirmed if this was the catalyst or the Cybertruck sales increased in Q3. Guess we’ll have to wait for this quarter’s earnings call to know a solid answer to this.

After a disappointing first quarter of this year, Tesla made a comeback in Q2. The automaker sold a record number of vehicles in Q3 2025, not only compared to previous quarters of this year but also showed growth year-over-year (YoY).

CEO Elon Musk’s full-time return to work at Tesla has also contributed to the positive growth of the company this quarter.

The following graph shows Tesla vehicle deliveries growth for the last five quarters (Q3 2024 to Q3 2025).
