SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) announced its first-ever quarterly financial results last week on Tuesday, August 04.
Contrary to the general belief and stock market bears, the company performed well in terms of revenue growth in Q2 2026. Some analysts and investors perhaps didn’t understand Elon Musk’s vision of merging Space, Satellite Connectivity, and AI into a single business model.
Interestingly, in his opening remarks on the SpaceX 2nd-quarter earnings call, he explained in detail how these fields are interconnected and the growth potential they can unlock over the next decade (listen below).
The SpaceX Q2 update deck focused on these three branches of the company’s business and their potential as growth drivers. Elon Musk also focused on these three areas in his talk on the Q2 Earnings Call.
Let’s break it down into easily digestible information that, at times, became highly technical as Musk explained concepts and strategies during the call.

Space (Starship, Falcon, Rapidly Reusable Reliable Rockets)
SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets have proven their reusability. However, to accomplish larger objectives, there’s a need for a super-large rocket and spaceship.
The answer to this problem is Starship. This massive, 41-story-tall, two-stage vehicle is made up of the Super Heavy rocket booster and the Starship upper-stage spacecraft.
Starship is in its development testing phase. Constant iterations and engineering improvements have resulted in the latest V3 generation of Starship prototypes. SpaceX has launched Starship V3 twice (Flight 12 and Flight 13).
During the 2nd-quarter earnings call, Musk revealed that in the next Starship Flight 14 launch, SpaceX will deploy the real Starlink V3 communication satellites into the operational orbit.
Flight 14: Starship Landing Catch
In the previous two V3 flights, SpaceX mainly deployed dummy V3, Dodger Dogs, and camera-equipped Starlink V3 satellites (Flight 13). In both flights, the deployment from the Starship payload bay was flawless.
The upcoming Flight 14 launch and landing test (IFT-14) will be unique in another aspect, as SpaceX will attempt to catch the upper stage Starship with the launch tower arms (Chopsticks).
SpaceX has previously caught the Super Heavy booster multiple times. It’s going to be the first time SpaceX will attempt to catch the upper stage ship on its way back to Earth.

Scaling Payload Deployment
According to Elon Musk, SpaceX will exponentially increase the mass-to-orbit payload capacity with Starship. Starship isn’t just about Moon and Mars missions; it’s also about scaling payload deployment to space.
“It’s difficult to actually explain to most people the incredible significance of Starship,” Musk said in his opening remarks.
“And perhaps, describing it in terms of challenge-to-orbit is a good way to appreciate the magnitude of the impact Starship will have on the future of civilization,” he added.
On payload-to-orbit, SpaceX already leads the world with 2,500 tons per year using Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets. Other space companies or governments deploy around ~300 tons combined. SpaceX has an 80-90% market share in space payload deployment per year.
SpaceX’s aspiration with Starship is to scale the Starship payload deployment to 1 million tons to orbit per year. According to Musk, the ultimate goal of Starship’s orbit challenge is to deploy 10 million tons of payload per year.
If a chart is drawn to compare SpaceX vs its competitors, the next biggest competitor would look like a dot on this graph. Elon Musk explained the company’s dominance in the space payload deployment market using this analogy.
Connectivity (Starlink V3)
“At some point, Starlink will deliver a majority of the world’s internet, at least in countries where we’re allowed to operate, which is a vast majority of countries,” Elon Musk described the scope of Starlink satellite broadband internet.
And Musk believes that this will happen within the next 10 years. It’s not like aiming to achieve in an infinite future.
Currently, Starlink internet is available in 167 countries. It’s also available on several airlines, and more and more airlines are installing Starlink to provide their customers with high-speed internet during flights.
The latest generation of Starlink satellites is Starlink V3. According to Musk, compared to Starlink V2, the latest V3 generation is capable on an ‘order of magnitude’, his way of explaining massive technological improvements.
Monetization and Revenue
According to SpaceX estimates, Starlink V3 will increase its revenue by 10x.
“[If] our monetization per bit decreases by a factor of 10, that would still mean a 10x increase in the revenue of Starlink,” said Musk.
“So I think people are really underestimating Starlink here,” he added.
With the ever-growing demand by humans, robots, and AI, Musk believes the need for bandwidth will dramatically increase in the near future.
On average, a human outputs 1 bit per second; that is 86,400 seconds, and the same number of bits output per day. A computer, on the other hand (including robots, self-driving cars, and AI data centers), easily outputs billions of bits per second.
This is why Musk thinks that Starlink satellite broadband will provide most of the world’s internet in the future and power AI and robotics.
AI (Grok, Data Centers, Nvidia)
Another interesting piece of the puzzle here is artificial intelligence (AI). Since taking over Twitter (now X), Musk has been seriously chasing AI objectives.
Since X is now owned by SpaceX through mergers and acquisitions, the Grok AI Assistant is also now owned by Musk’s SpaceX.
At first, it looked odd that a space company was acquiring a social media platform, but Musk’s vision bypasses most Wall Street guys.
SpaceXAI has recently released Grok 4.5, which is performing exceptionally through AI benchmarks. Musk on the Q2 2026 Earnings Call revealed that Grok 4.6 and 4.7 will be released back-to-back in a span of a few weeks.
Grok AI assistant is now part of Tesla cars and is getting improvements with each major OTA software update to the fleet.
Grok AI x SpaceX Data
One astonishing revelation made during the SpaceX 2nd-quarter call by Elon Musk was the incorporation of SpaceX data in Grok AI.
According to Musk, SpaceX’s entire data since its foundation in 2002 will be integrated into Grok 5 or later versions. This is going to be a huge development, specifically for the astronautical industry (if SpaceX makes it available for use to other companies and governments).
This means that the entire learning of SpaceX engineers, software tech, system flows, project management, rocket engineering, and scientific breakthroughs will be integrated into Grok AI.
If this happens and is not barred by NASA or another US regulator, it’s going to create an AI rocket engineer far better than anyone, including Elon himself.
Nvidia-based Data Centers, Compute Capacity
From Elon Musk’s statements during the Q2 2026 Earnings Call, it looks like SpaceX has held off on its chip-making plans in the short-term.
SpaceX is going with Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72-based GPUs for its AI data centers. “We’re exclusive to Nvidia,” Musk said.
“We think the Vera Rubin architecture is the best architecture; it’s the best AI computer, and we greatly value our close cooperation and partnership with Nvidia,” Elon Musk stated.
SpaceX needs vast amounts of AI compute capacity to make Grok the best AI in the world. The company needs to create new data centers to enhance compute capacity. The current Colossus data center is not enough.
In addition to land, SpaceX plans to build data centers in space, harnessing the Sun’s energy almost 24×7.
