With the success of the stable FSD v14.2 release, Tesla has decided to give a chance to the masses to try it out during the 2025 Holiday Season.

This year, Tesla owners in North America are going to have a chance to enjoy new features in the Holiday Software Update alongside FSD v14.

Tesla has officially announced the 30-day FSD v14 trial for Tesla Model S, 3, X, Y, and the Cybertruck. However, Model S, 3, X, and Y should be HW4/AI4-equipped to run Tesla’s Full Self-Driving v14 AI. Legacy HW3 vehicles are not capable of running FSD v14 or any of its versions (read full eligibility criteria below).

New and existing Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck owners will have the opportunity to experience the latest Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14 features, including Speed Profiles and Arrival Options, with a complimentary trial.

Tesla started the limited rollout of FSD v14.2 last week. As the confidence of the Tesla AI team grew with this FSD build, the automaker started to expand the FSD v14.2 circle of users.

The latest Tesla software tracking data from TeslaFi.com and Tessie.com suggests that thousands of Tesla cars in the US & Canada have now installed FSD v14.2.

With the FSD v14 trials starting soon, the entire fleet in North America (US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico) is going to get FSD v14.2. The estimated number of HW4 Tesla cars and Cybertrucks getting FSD v14.2 trials is around 1.5 million units.

Tesla owners are going to get an email and/or a notification in their Tesla mobile app confirming that the trial on their vehicle is available to download and install (Wi-Fi connection needed to download).

The 30-day trial period will start as soon as FSD v14.2 is installed on a vehicle. The trial offer is available for Tesla owners who did not purchase Full Self-Driving Capability at the time of ordering the vehicle.

It’s around 1 month to the end of this year, and Tesla might push another FSD v14 point release by the holidays. This is a possibility because when a large group of FSD v14.2 users is going to provide data and feedback, Tesla will be able to make improvements based on a large pool of data for each scenario (e.g., U-turns, UPLs, traffic lights, school zones, etc.).

Last year, Tesla started with FSD v12 trials but later extended the trial period to let Tesla owners experience FSD v13. The tech & AI-based automaker might use the same strategy this year, but the time towards end-of-year is limited. So, Tesla should deploy a new FSD v14 point release before Christmas.

Eligibility Criteria for FSD v14 Trial

To be eligible for the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14 trial, you must:

  • Be a Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y (HW4/AI4), or Cybertruck owner
  • Have Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software version 14.2 or later
  • Own your eligible Tesla vehicle in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Mexico, or Canada
