Tesla (TSLA) is currently sending out the Holiday Update version 2025.4a4.25.5 to its global fleet of cars, including the Cybertruck.
Some features in this update are specific to the Cybertruck, such as the Automatic HOV Lanes Routing and Car Wash Mode. Before the 2025.44.25.5 update, Cybertruck was the only Tesla that did not have the Car Wash Mode feature.
This new update also enables Cybertruck owners to use an automatic car wash. Previously, Tesla did not recommend using automatic car washes for the Cybertruck, as the vehicle’s free rolling feature was not available to users.
To enable, go to Controls > Car Wash.

Cybertruck’s Car Wash Mode has some extra features, as we can see in the screenshot above. You can either fold or close the tonneau cover. If you want the truck’s bed to be washed, you can fold the cover, or if you want the cover to be cleaned, you can close the tonneau cover.
If you’re entering an automatic car wash, enabling the ‘Automatic Car Wash’ option is necessary. You should tap the ‘Enable Free Roll’ button to allow the Cybertruck to freely move forward in the car wash.
This is where Tesla vehicles have a clear edge over cars made by traditional automakers. Teslas keep getting new features, infotainment add-ons, and overall improvements via free over-the-air (OTA) software updates throughout their lifespan.

The updated Tesla Cybertruck Owner’s Manual provides the following details about using the Car Wash Mode:
Car Wash
If taking Cybertruck to an automatic car wash is necessary, Car Wash Mode closes all windows, locks the charge port, and disables windshield wipers, Sentry Mode, and walk-away door locking. To enable, touch Controls > Car Wash. Your vehicle must be stationary and not actively charging.
If using an automatic car wash, Enable Free Roll keeps your vehicle in Neutral and activates free roll for the duration of the wash, while preventing Cybertruck from applying the Parking brake if you leave the driver’s seat. To enable, press on the brake pedal and touch Enable Free Roll; or shift into Neutral.
Car Wash Mode disables if the vehicle’s speed exceeds 9 mph (15 km/h) or by touching Exit on the touchscreen.
CAUTION
Failure to put Cybertruck in Car Wash Mode may result in damage (for example, to the charge port or windshield wipers). Damage caused by car washes is not covered by the warranty.
