Tesla (TSLA) is moving fast with its product launches lately. On Monday, in our Model Y Performance article, we said that it’s still only available in Europe, but that’s not the case anymore.

The electric vehicle-maker launched the new Tesla Model Y Performance in the United States yesterday. Now this performance-focused Model Y variant is available for sale across in the US. However, no delivery date estimates are showing on the online configurator.

We previously covered the newly-added features and specs at the time of Model Y Performance’s Europe launch. However, there are some differences in performance figures because of the usage of different measurement units in both continents.

Along with the launch, Tesla also shared some stunning pictures of this mid-sized electric SUV (some are below). Top Gear just recently reviewed the new Model Y Performance, and they couldn’t resist praising it.

Design

Tesla has refined the exterior and interior of the new Model Y Performance for three reasons: one, to differentiate it from the lower-end variants; secondly, to make it look sportier; and lastly, to make it more aerodynamic to get the best performance figures.

We’ve covered the exterior and interior changes of the new Tesla Model Y Performance in a previous report.

Acceleration and Top Speed

Tesla’s US online configurator lists 3.3 seconds as the Model Y Performance 0-60 mph acceleration figure.

This differs from the European 0-100 km/h of 3.5 seconds because 0-100 km/h equals 0-62 mph, not 0-60 mph.

However, a family SUV giving an acceleration of 3.3 seconds is insane. Btw, to get this much out of your new Model Y Performance, you’ll have to use Insane Mode from the car’s center touchscreen UI.

Compared to the Long Range AWD variant’s 4.6 seconds, the 0-60 acceleration of Model Y Performance is 1.3 seconds better. In a straight-line drag or street race, this matters a lot.

Tesla Model Y Performance can go as fast as 155 mph (250 km/h). Again, the thing to remember is that this is a mid-sized family SUV. A top speed of 155 mph can satisfy any car enthusiast’s need for speed.

Range

The US version of the new 2026 Model Y Performance comes with an EPA estimated range of 306 miles. This is just 21 miles less compared to the Model Y Long Range AWD variant (327 miles of range).

With the help of more energy-dense battery cells and software optimization, Tesla managed to get an impressive 306 miles of range from the new Model Y Performance.

2026 Tesla Model Y Performance Price (United States)

Tesla has launched the new 2026 Model Y Performance electric SUV in the United States with a price tag of $57,490.

Compared to the mid-tier Model Y Long Range AWD variant ($48,990), the Model Y Performance is $8,500 more expensive. But it includes redesigned front and rear fascias, improved interior seats, a new high-res 16″ screen, adaptive suspension, and expensive 21″ wheels.

I think the upgrades it carries inside, including a performance badge, the extra $8,500 are justified. But Top Gear thinks most people will just want a normal Model Y because they don’t want the extra acceleration, speed, and the upgrades mentioned above (in the UK, the difference between these two variants is £10,000).

Due to tariff conflicts between the US and Canada, the new Model Y Performance is not yet available in Canada.
