Tesla (TSLA) has updated its Referral Program to add a new perk: a free month of Supervised Full Self-Driving (FSD). A monthly FSD subscription costs $99.
The tech & AI-based electric automaker’s offer of a free month of FSD is limited to customers and cars in the United States.
Existing Tesla owners can go to the ‘Refer and Earn’ section of their Tesla mobile app on Android and iOS to view the new free one-month FSD offer.
Tesla owners can generate a unique link to share with family and friends so they can get a free one-month trial of Tesla FSD. Interestingly, if someone uses this link to get a paid monthly subscription to Tesla Full Self-Driving, the referrer will also get a month of free FSD.
A successful referral counts as one month of free FSD for the person whose referral link has been used. The referrer can earn up to a maximum of 12 months of free Full Self-Driving in a calendar year.

Response and Impact
As Tesla started offering the free FSD trial opportunity, the community of Tesla owners and enthusiasts responded positively. Sharing FSD trial links started trending on X.
Several users reported that most of the links they tried were already exhausted (referred 12 other FSD users). Tesla owners asked others to share links that haven’t already been fully used.
This is a great opportunity for referrers to earn up to 12 months of free FSD, which is valued at $1,188 ($99 x 12). There’s no official figure yet on how many trial users convert to paid FSD subscriptions. However, Tesla’s Q3 2026 report shows there’s a 75% attach rate on new vehicle sales.
Spreading it through the Referral Awards Program introduces a new way of driving to new users and gives them an opportunity to overcome their fears and concerns.
It will be an interesting data point to see how many FSD Trial users converted to paid users. Tesla will most likely share these statistics in the coming months or next year.
Using Tesla’s Full Self-Driving as a trial changes the way many people think about the AI-enabled driving system. 2016 F1 World Champion Nico Rosberg expressed his thoughts on Tesla FSD (Supervised) as:
It’s been LIFE-CHANGING! My scarcest resource currently is time. And now, I was able to get some of that time back on the commute.
By the evening, it actually felt like I’d won back half a working day!! I even had a mini date with my wife on the drive.
My whole racing career, I was the one in control behind the wheel. But I’m now fully willing to hand over control!!
It’s crazy that 75% of new Teslas delivered in North America last quarter came with FSD. In Europe, we’re still way behind on this tech. And we for sure need to move faster!!
