A video of a Tesla Model 3 thrusting its way through the floodwaters went viral last week. This short clip (below) was recorded in the Henan province of China.

It is not recommended to wade through deep waters in any car but situations like these where a person is accidentally stuck in the flood is safer in a Tesla.

“We *def* don’t recommend this, but Model S floats well enough to turn it into a boat for short periods of time. Thrust via wheel rotation,” this is a famous tweet of Tesla CEO Elon Musk from 2016 that supports the fact that Tesla cars can wade through deep waters for short spans.

Although the video went viral, there was no further report of the car or the occupants’ safety. But Tesla retail investor and enthusiast @Ray4Tesla from China has reported that the occupants of the car have survived and are now safe. However, there are still no updates about the condition of this Model 3 after going through this much deep water.

This looks like a Rear-Wheel Drive Standard Range Plus Model 3 as the water jumping (rooster tails) due to fast wheel motion is mostly happening at the rear-end of the vehicle.

Tesla vehicles going through floodwaters always make headlines, like a Model Y that was summoned by its owner from a flooded parking lot last year. In another occurring, a Model X owner lanced through the South Dakota floodwaters like a boss.
