Tesla Robot overshadows Tesla AI Day, Full Self-Driving, Dojo, everything!

Only and only Tesla Robot is the talk of the internet town after the long-awaited Tesla AI Day presentation concluded yesterday. CEO Elon Musk revealed a concept of a “friendly” Tesla Robot (a humanoid), a prototype of which the company is aiming to reveal in a year (or so).

This was totally an unexpected revelation by both Tesla and its vibrant CEO Elon Musk. For months Musk had been talking about AI Day, even when the automaker started sending the AI Day invitations earlier this month, it only teased a new neural network supercomputer chip — no hint of a robot whatsoever.

The term “automaker” is not very relevant to Tesla anymore — automobiles, energy products, and now robots. Tesla is on a quest to capture the entire next era of technological advancement under a single umbrella (don’t remind the movie Resident Evil or Will Smith’s I, Robot by looking at the image above or the ones below).

Tesla Robot specs

“World built by humans for humans,” — “Friendly” — “Eliminates, dangerous, boring, repetitive tasks,” these are the outlines mentioned on the presentation screen from the live stream with the following specs and Tesla Robot capabilities.

Height5’8″
Weight125 lbs (56.7 kg)
Speed5 mph (8 km/h)

Tesla breaks tradition

All good things must come to an end — Tesla and Elon Musk ended their tradition of not showing a concept but a working prototype only. From the original Roadster days, till yesterday it continued for more than 13 years but now the times have changed. Hopefully, Tesla will never do that for a future vehicle unveiling.

Let’s watch Elon Musk unveiling this concept during the Tesla AI Day presentation, thanks to our friends at Tesla Owners Online for uploading the trimmed-down version focusing only on Tesla Robot.

Tesla Robot sure stole the show from Dojo, Neural Net chip, and Full Self-Driving — and rightfully so.
