I got an email from Tesla yesterday mentioning an offer of a discount of $3,750 and 10,000 free Supercharging miles. But just hours later, Tesla doubled the discount offer to $7,500.

Tesla now offers a $7,500 discount along with 10K free Supercharger miles on Model 3 and Model Y vehicles delivered between 21st to 31st December 2022.

The Austin, TX-based automaker has also updated its online car configurator to reflect this massive discount offer this Holiday Season.

Tesla website explains how the 10,000 free Supercharger miles offer works as follows:

Tesla is offering free Supercharging credits* — up to 10,000 miles of driving—for customers who take delivery of a new Tesla vehicle between December 15 and December 31, 2022. Free Supercharging will be credited to your Tesla Account in the month of January 2023 and will remain valid for a period of two years from your delivery date.

*Supercharging credits are tied to your Tesla account and cannot be transferred to another vehicle or person in case of an ownership transfer. Tesla shall not be liable if delivery of your vehicle does not happen before December 31, 2022. Used vehicles are excluded from this promotion.

The federal EV tax credit of $7,500 for Tesla customers was exhausted years ago. Tesla is offering the 2022 Holiday Season discount as a price adjustment purely on its own.

Last month, Tesla relaunched the new Referral Program with free Supercharger miles and other offers. But this 10K miles offer is not part of the referral program, you buy a Model Y or a Model 3 and these free charging miles get credited to your Tesla account.

The best thing about this $7,500 discount is that you can own a Tesla vehicle under $40K in this day and age of inflation. The price of a Tesla Model 3 starts at $46,990 — the cheapest Tesla available. After the $7,500 price adjustment, a brand new Tesla Model 3 will cost you $39,490.

Tesla has launched this Holiday price discount and free Supercharging in Canada as well. But the difference is that Tesla customers in Canada will get a price adjustment of $5,000 CAD and 10K kilometers of free Supercharging instead of miles.

Unfortunately, Tesla did not offer these Holiday Season perks to its customers outside of North America.

By lowering its profit margin per car at the end of the year, Tesla is attempting to boost its Q4 2022 sales. Potential Tesla customers across social media are very excited to avail the $7,500 discount and many are saying they’re going to avail it.

According to a recent Reuters report, Tesla makes average profit per vehicle of $9,754 US Dollars. That’s more than double what even Toyota makes on its cars. So for 10 days, Tesla reduces its profit margins to delivery as many vehicles to customers as possible before the first dawn of 2023.
