SpaceX has started live-streaming the Starship Flight 3 (IFT-3) launch and liftoff official coverage (watch below).

We will be updating this page live as the Starship launch from Starbase, Texas goes through important milestones and with key information about the orbital flight test.

Unfortunately, SpaceX is not live-streaming the IFT-3 launch on YouTube but only on X (Twitter).

  • It’s SpaceX’s 22nd birthday
  • SpaceX declares Starship Flight 3 a success due to several successful tests from liftoff to entry to the atmosphere
  • T+1 hour and the signals from the Starship are lost
  • The Earth’s atmosphere is acting like a braking system (friction) for Starship
  • Starship is the largest human-made flying object in space and the atmosphere of the Earth
  • 4 fins at the top and 2 fins at the bottom (aft) of the Starship control its attitude in the atmosphere (Starship is tested to be maneuverable at supersonic speeds)
  • 18,000 hexagonal ceramic heat shield tiles are protecting Starship from extreme temperatures on re-entry
  • Re-entry burn starts, Starship is experiencing temperatures of 2600 degrees celsius
  • Starlink satellites are used to stream Starship footage
  • Starship is on its way back to planet Earth
  • T+15 minutes, altitude = 201 km
  • Starship splashdown in the Indian Ocean (new trajectory) is expected to happen in T+40 minutes
  • T+11 minutes and Starship is sailing comfortably in space (altitude: 179 km)
  • 6 Starship engines have successfully shut down (around T+9 minutes)
  • Ship 28 (2nd stage) is on a controlled ascent
  • Booster 10 (1st stage) soft splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico (meets objective)
  • Starship’s path is on the planned trajectory
  • T+3 minutes: Hot Staging confirmed. Booster 10 to splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • No technical issues, winds are cooperating at T-40 seconds
  • T-2 minutes remaining in Starship launch
  • SpaceX has already built 4 Starships and Super Heavy boosters for tests down the road
  • SpaceX aims to build Starship as a fully reusable spaceship.
  • Starship header tanks are being loaded with the propellant (Liquid Oxygen + Liquid Methane)
  • Liftoff time is estimated to be 8:25 AM CT and everything is looking good for the launch
