A few hours are left in SpaceX’s 13th attempt at a Starship launch and landing test (IFT-13). The Flight 13 Starship launch has the same objectives as Flight 12, but this time SpaceX is going to attempt the deployment of 20 Starlink V3 satellites in space.

Flight 13 is the 2nd launch and landing test of the Starship V3 generation. I have labeled the fully stacked Starship V3 in the following image to understand the major components of the spacecraft. It will help you understand the live webcast as you get used to the terminology.

Live Updates (text commentary)
- We are at almost T-20 minutes
- The thrust from 33 Raptor 3 engines enables faster liftoff from the pad compared to the previous generations
- SpaceX loaded 20 Starlink V3 satellites in Flight 13 Starship 40 upper stage
- After stage separation, Booster 20 will shut down 28 engines, only 5 select engines will remain ignited
- T-11 minutes, no issues on the vehicle or the launch pad (Pad 2 OLM)
- Starship is still loading propellant (methane and liquid oxygen / MethaLOX)
- After complete loading, Starship will have 11.5 million pounds of propellant on it
- SpaceX will hold the count at T-60 seconds (changed from T-40 seconds in previous flight)
- 3.5 minutes remaining until liftoff
- T-1 min 45 seconds, prop load is complete
- Holding at T-1 minute
- All systems are a go, the hold has been released
- Another hold just at liftoff
- The flame diverter triggered from the launch pad but engines ignited for a second and all engines shut off
- Today’s attempt is called a scrub (cancelled)
- Flight 13 was called off due to a strange behavior from the Super Heavy booster engines at liftoff
- “Standing down from today’s flight test attempt,” SpaceX announced on X.
- SpaceX or Elon Musk will provide an update to the cause of today’s Flight 13 scrub
- This was a strange behavior from the Super Heavy booster engines today, seen for the first time, looks like an automatic emergency system shut off all the engines at once
