The wait for the 2026 Summer Update for Tesla HW4 car owners using FSD v14 is over. The automaker has started rolling out FSD v14.3.8 and the Summer software update bundled into a single release.

Tesla (TSLA) has merged both FSD v14.3.8 and the 2026 Summer Update into the 2026.26.6.5 firmware version. This brings FSD v14 users on par with the Summer Update features that non-FSD cars began receiving earlier this month.

SpaceX’s Grok AI Assistant enabled more voice commands in the Summer Update versions 2026.26 and 2026.26.1. The latest Summer Update release, version 2026.26.6.5, unlocks more voice commands.

When you’re driving or riding in a Tesla vehicle with the 2026.26.6.5 software update or later, you can ask Grok about the vehicle. This is interesting, as the release notes mention that you can ask Grok about the latest software release features and details.

You can also make phone calls, play music, adjust climate control settings, and even search the vehicle’s controls by just asking “Hey Grok” and talking to the AI assistant in plain English (some videos of how Tesla owners are using this feature are below).

The 2026.26.6.5 official release notes describe Grok’s newly gained abilities inside a Tesla vehicle as:

Grok Commands

Grok can now make phone calls, play music, adjust climate, and search the Controls panel. Ask Grok about your Tesla or what was included in the latest software update.

FSD v14.3.8 / 2026 Summer Update Rollout Status

The merged new over-the-air (OTA) update 2026.26.6.5 (FSD v14.3.8 and Summer Update combined) was first seen on some Tesla vehicles on August 25.

There have been multiple waves of the rollout since then. However, as of this writing, the expansion of this update is still under 1% of the Tesla fleet.

There are two reasons for this: first, this update is specific to HW4 Tesla cars running FSD v14.3.8 in the United States and Canada. Countries in Europe have a different version of FSD v14 because of the differences in traffic scenarios and road infrastructure.

Grok Voice Commands in Summer Update (2026.26.6.5)

Tesla owners on X are reporting the voice commands they have been giving to Grok after installing the 2026 Summer Update. Some of these commands include:

  • Fold mirrors
  • Turn on windshield wipers and ask Grok for slow or fast settings
  • Change the temperature of both the driver and passenger sides
  • Open self-driving app
  • Open glovebox
  • Ask for guidance about vehicle controls (pretty handy for first-time Tesla owners)
  • Navigate and change destinations
  • Make phone calls

Grok AI voice commands eliminate the need to navigate through various on-screen menus to find the desired setting. You can now just ask Grok to do it for you, and the car’s system is now designed to obey it.

According to Elon Musk, one of the upcoming updates later this year will enable you to issue voice commands to the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. You can imagine this scenario as one AI controlling or guiding another AI.

Tesla started integrating the Grok AI Assistant into its vehicles in July last year. At first, it was introduced only as a chatbot. However, with new software updates, it’s gaining increasing power and control over the vehicle’s systems.
