Tesla (TSLA) announced on X (Twitter) yesterday evening that the 2024 Holiday Update is going to start rolling out to Tesla owners globally next week (2nd week of December).
“Coming to you as an over-the-air update beginning next week!” Tesla posted on X. This year, Tesla is releasing the Holiday Update earlier than expected. Last year, it was released in the 3rd week of 2023.
Along with the announcement, the tech automaker also officially leaked all the features and improvements coming in the 2024 Holiday Update. The genius minds at Tesla software team figure out new apps and features every year — this year’s update is also feature-packed.

The most interesting of these new features is the ‘Tesla app on Apple Watch’. Apple Watch users who own Tesla vehicles have long been waiting for Tesla to bring its app to this luxury gadget — Tesla finally heard their calls.
Tesla gave away a few details of its app for Apple Watch in the loose release notes of the 2024 Holiday Update on X (Twitter). The automaker also shared a picture of the Apple Watch showing the app running on the tech gadget.
Tesla owners will be able to unlock their cars with the Tesla app installed on their Apple Watch. After installing the app, it will be paired to a specific car and used as a phone/alternate key.

Tesla for Apple Watch allows you to pair your watch as a key and unlock and lock your vehicle without ever pressing a button — just like phone key. You can also see the state of your vehicle’s battery with a watch face complication and perform actions such as opening the frunk and trunk.
You can also view battery charge and climate control (coming soon).

Save Dashcam & Sentry Mode clips to phone
This is another useful and much-needed feature for Tesla owners. In addition to the ability for live views of Sentry Mode cameras on mobile phone, now the Tesla app will also save clips to the owner’s smartphone.
This feature is going to be very handy in searching, filtering, and saving the video clip of the exact instant of a Sentry Mode event or vandalism incident. It will also make it easier for Tesla owners to show Sentry Mode footage as proof to the law-enforcement agencies.

Autoshift between Drive & Reverse on stalkless Model 3
Tesla has just released its FSD v13 software update which has unlocked the vehicle’s ability to change forward and reverse gears during park and unpark scenarios.
With the 2024 Holiday Update, Tesla Model 3 vehicles delivered without stalks will be able to shift between Driving and Reverse gears automatically. This feature will be useful for parking in parking lots, in your garage, and when making multi-point turns autonomously.
This is basically a Full Self-Driving feature for free by Tesla (TSLA). Stalkless Model 3 owners should be excited to try this.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert
After installing this year’s over-the-air (OTA) Holiday Update, Tesla vehicles will alert you if they detect a vehicle or pedestrian coming across the street outside your garage. Tesla owners have been waiting for this feature for a long time now, and Tesla (TSLA) will fulfill their wish before this year’s Christmas.
When in Reverse, your vehicle will alert you if it detects a pedestrian or vehicle crossing behind you.
An audible warning will also play if a cross-traffic object is detected.
