The 21st century world we live in is noisy. Although EVs don’t create engine noise but there is a sea of internal combustion engine (ICE) cars still out there to spread noise pollution in addition to the hazardous emissions.
However, this is not the only type of noise you encounter when driving your quiet Tesla or another EV. Car manufacturers have been working for decades to reduce outside noises coming into the vehicle’s cabin.
Tesla (TSLA) is a premium car brand and it should resonate with the features of the vehicle. The US-based EV automaker also constantly adds features via OTA software updates and every time it releases a design-refresh version of a vehicle.

In a recent video of the new Tesla Model Y Juniper, a couple tested the effectiveness of the vehicle’s window glass against outside noise. Interestingly, as the window closed, the humming noise made by the person standing outside got completely blocked.
The owners of the new 2025 Tesla Model Y opened and closed the window a couple of times to check the difference of noise in each state.
Tesla has successfully eliminated cabin noise by some serious measures inside the new Model Y’s cabin. The luxury segment Tesla Model S and Model X vehicles have active noise cancellation (ANC) but the cabin insulation and glass technology in the new Model Y is now comparable to any luxury car for low levels of outside noise.

Tesla develops its glass technology in-house. The automaker has an entire department dedicated to vehicle glass engineering. The proprietary Tesla Glass brings noise reduction, rigidity to the roof, and protection from UV rays to its vehicles.
Tesla uses double-glazed window glass in all of its electric vehicles. The latest improvement in Tesla acoustic glass technology. This improves occupant experience by allowing them to focus on in-car infotainment and increased driving pleasure.
