Tesla (TSLA) has introduced a new premium paint option named Diamond Black for Tesla Model Y and Model 3 in North America.
The automaker just announced the launch of the new Diamond Black color via its CEO Elon Musk’s social media platform X (Twitter). Tesla posted a teaser video of the new paint option, showing close-ups of the new and shiny variant of metallic black paint.
Online car configurators for both the new Tesla Model Y Juniper and Tesla Model 3 have now added the color for customers to choose when they’re ordering their vehicles.
Diamond Black is an interesting new addition to Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y color palette. This new color replaces the old Solid Black, which was, as the name suggests, a plain black color.
With the new Diamond Black, Tesla has attempted to add some excitement to the old, bland black paint option. In the screenshot below, you can see a galaxy of small stars (dots) inside the paint.
Most probably, the old Solid Black color didn’t sell that well, which resulted in the creation of the new Diamond Black paint.

Price of the Model 3/Y Diamond Black Color
Tesla has set the price of the new Diamond Black color option at US$ 1,500 for the US Model 3/Y customers and CA$ 2,000 for the Canadian customers.
Tesla has kept the pricing of the new Diamond Black color the same as the old Solid Black color. The automaker is offering a better color for the same price.
However, as this paint option was added just a couple of hours before this writing, its look in the real world has yet to be seen. Stay tuned for future updates on this topic.
