Today, it was the election day at Cameron County. Ballots for Starbase incorporation as a Texas city and its Mayor and Commissioner were also cast (results below).
The final ballot results from Cameron County, Texas, are in. 212 (97.25%) votes were cast in favor of incorporating Starbase as a city of Texas, and only 6 (2.75%) votes were cast against the petition.
A total of 218 ballots were cast, out of which 83.4% were cast in Early Voting (EV) and the rest were cast on Election Day (ED).
“Starbase, Texas—Is now a real city!” SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

In February, Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr., signed an order for a Starbase election. SpaceX has filed a petition for the incorporation of Starbase in December 2024.
The elections for the incorporation of Starbase, Texas, were held yesterday (3rd May 2025). The results were expected to be largely in favor of SpaceX and the formation of the City of Starbase, TX.
The Starbase election occurred during the general election on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm at the “HUB” located at 39046 LBJ Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521. Early voting took place at this same location April 22nd through Friday, April 25th from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and April 28th from 9:00 pm to April 29th 7:00 pm.
The ballots for the incorporation of the City of Starbase, Texas, were cast by the residents of the locality. The majority of these voters are SpaceX employees. It’s interesting to see that 6 people cast a vote against the petition.

Mayor and Commissioner of Starbase, Texas
Ballots for the election of the Mayor and Commissioner of the City of Starbase were also cast yesterday as this was a general election day in Cameron County, Texas.
According to the Cameron County Judge’s notification, the City of Starbase, Texas will be incorporated as a “Type-C municipality”.
Bobby Peden was the only candidate for the position of Mayor of Starbase. He received all 216 votes on the ballot.
For the position of the Commissioner, there were two candidates, Jordan Buss and Jenna Petrzelka. Out of the total 365 votes, Jenna won the election by getting 188 (51.51%) votes. Jordan Buss, on the other hand, lost the election by a meager 11 votes, getting 177 (48.49%) ballots in his favor.
Jenna Petrzelka will be the commissioner of the City of Starbase, Texas in the near future.

Starbase, Texas, is SpaceX’s primary Starship production, testing, and launch facility. To date, SpaceX has flown 8 Starship prototypes from this launch and landing-catch site.
SpaceX is building an even bigger Starship launch facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. However, the development will take time. The earliest flights from Florida are expected to begin at the end of 2026.
