It was indeed a short journey for the new Cybertruck Standard AWD base trim to stay at the $59,990 price tag. The most reasonably priced Cybertruck yet is going to get a price hike after 28th February.
The online car configurator of the Tesla Cybertruck shows a new notification that says, “Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD Starting at $59,990. Price Increases after February 28.”
Aside from the price increase notification, Tesla has moved up the estimated delivery dates by a few months. The new Standard AWD Cybertruck actually sold so well that the automaker had to extend the delivery dates.
Tesla launched the new Standard AWD Cybertruck trim in the United States only. The current situation of demand and prices suggests it’s going be US-only for some time.

The notification says the price increases ‘after 28 February’. It doesn’t mention the exact date. It’s possible that Tesla is going to extend the current pricing of the Cybertruck Standard AWD, but it might just increase on 1st March.
The automaker has kept the room for breathing, for both itself and its customers. If enough orders are placed before 28th Feb, Tesla is going to change the price on 1st March. If it doesn’t hit the target number, Tesla might extend the $59,990 price for a little while.

Customer Reaction to the Price Increase
Potential buyers and Tesla enthusiasts are considering Tesla’s Cybertruck pricing as a ‘market gimmick’. As soon as the company received a significant amount of orders and customer interest, the automaker was prepared to increase the price of the most affordable Cybertruck yet.
“Totally feels like a bait and switch marketing gimmick. I wish Tesla would not do this to their customers,” Tesla influencer and FSD beta tester Chuck Cook wrote on X.
Another influencer and Tesla owner, Ryan McCaffrey, said:
Awful way to treat customers – particularly when they already sent out a marketing email announcing the $59,990 truck…with zero mention of it being a limited-time offer.
New Delivery Estimate
The Cybertruck Standard AWD order summary on the online configurator was showing the estimated delivery date of June 2026 in the last few days. Now, the delivery estimate has been pushed to September – October.
This is a clear indication that Tesla is receiving a good number of orders for the new base variant of the Cybertruck.
Tesla Cybertruck hasn’t been a good contributor to Tesla’s overall sales since its launch. In Q2 2026, Tesla is going to discontinue Model S and X; therefore, the automaker needs a premium segment vehicle to perform better in terms of sales figures.
The current situation suggests that the low volume of Cybertruck sales wasn’t just because of its triangular design and polarized perceptions, but it’s also due to the higher selling price. As soon as the price became reasonable, Tesla received a good number of orders for the Cybertruck Standard AWD.
