Tesla CEO Elon Musk visited called Gigafactory Berlin on Monday, May 17 to check out the development progress of the construction site.

Although the construction of Giga Berlin is moving ahead at a steady pace, Elon Musk still wants it to further accelerate. “Giga Berlin suppliers please accelerate,” Musk tweeted after his visit for the technical analysis of the factory.

Elon Musk met with government officials, ministers, and even his die-hard German fans on his visit to the Giga Berlin.

German Minister for Transport & Digital Infrastructure Andreas Scheuer and Minister for Economics, Labor and Energy of the State of Brandenburg Jörg Steinbach met with Elon Musk to discuss his plans and vision for Gigafactory Berlin. Later on, Steinbach posted his thoughts on this brief unofficial talk with Elon Musk in the following tweet.

To this, Musk tweeted a reply in appreciation and gratitude for the support from the local government and permit authorities, he said:

Great progress so far! Thank you for the support from Brandenburg. I would also like to express appreciation for the permit authorities, as I know this is a large and complex project.

When all the finishing touches are done, I hope it will be considered a jewel of Brandenburg!

During an interview, Musk showed his concern over the complex bureaucratic system that hinders the pace of progress that he is used to in the US and China. However, Musk is optimistic that Giga Berlin will start Model Y production later this year.

Elon Musk also met some of his fans who were waiting for him outside the Gigafactory Berlin construction site. One of the fans even brought a life-sized cardboard cutout of Elon Musk for an autograph, Musk welcomed the gesture and signed it.

“I’ve never done this before, this is the first time, I’ve never signed a life-size version of me,” he said.

The last time Elon Musk visited Giga Berlin was last year when he was on a special mission — to recruit top 25 engineers (25 guns) for the acceleration of the development of this mega engineering project. Until Giga Texas becomes functional, Giga Berlin will be the most advanced Tesla factory globally.
