The review team from AutoTopNL got their hands on a brand new 2021 design refresh Tesla Model 3 Performance and they are testing it rigorously. This is probably from one of the first batches of Model 3 Performance shipped to Europe this year.
In this video review, Max from AutoTopNL first went through the face-lift changes that Tesla has made to the exterior and interior to the new Model 3 lineup. Mainly including the new headlights, chrome delete of the window trim and side-repeater camera housings, the newly designed matte black center console etc.
Most of these changes were first introduced with the launch of the Tesla Model Y in the United States last year.
Describing the features of the new Model 3 Performance, Max mentions that the car has Brembo brakes, but the Tesla online configurator does not specifically mention this brand. Tesla refers to the red colored brake caliper in the Model 3 Performance as “Performance Brakes,” they also have a Tesla logo printed on them instead of the Brembo one.
AutoTopNL put the German Autobahn to the right use, to test the top speed of the 2021 Tesla Model 3 Performance. Tesla increased the top speed of the Model 3 Performance from 155 mph (250 km/h) to 162 mph (261 km/h). Interestingly, in the following test video, the 2021 Model 3 Performance reached the top speed of 262 km/h — 1 km/h above the specs on paper.
In-car music composing with Tesla TRAX
Tesla has not just disrupted the internal combustion car market, the in-car entertainment segment has also entered into a new era, thanks to the innovation of Elon Musk and his software teams at Tesla.
Besides video games, YouTube, Netflix, other popular streaming services, you can create music with the TRAX app when the car is in PARK or charging at a Supercharger station. In this review video, Max did create a sick and addictive music loop with this Tesla center touchscreen app.
Handling & Track Mode
Max found the handling of the nimble Tesla Model 3 very useful and precise even at high speeds. For the race tracks, Tesla has introduced a special ‘Track Mode’. The latest software update contains Racing and Drifting presets to choose from.
A Track Mode custom settings option is also available for experienced and professional drivers. “Model 3 Performance suspension and chassis is impressive,” said Max from AutoTopNL in the following review video.
