Tesla is all set to send a mosaic of laser-engraved customer pictures into space aboard the SpaceX KPLO mission

It’s less than 4 days remaining before Tesla will fulfill its promise of one of its old referral program prizes — sending a mosaic of laser-etched pictures of its customers into space.

In the last few days, Tesla emailed its selected customers who won this prize in the past to notify them that their photos have been added to the mosaic and are ready to be sent into space. The email read:

Your photo has been laser etched into the Tesla Mosaic.

We’re in the process of preparing your photo to launch aboard the KPLO mission from Cape Canaveral on August 4, 2022.

Thank you for supporting the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

The automaker hasn’t shared the exact number of photos that the Tesla Mosaic contains. However, by looking at the web version where you can zoom in and out of the mosaic, it seems that there are thousands of pictures in it.

Most of the owners and referral program winners chose to send their own photos into space. But some chose otherwise, like celebrities, their loved ones, and even their beloved pets.

While I was roaming the mosaic pictures, I found an interesting addition to this collection. Someone chose to send the name of the last Prophet of Islam Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and his companion Ali and 11 grandchildren (A.S) to be added to the Tesla Mosaic destined for space for eternity.

Name of Prophet Muhammad (A.S) and 12 Imams (A.S) laser-etched onto the Tesla Mosaic to be sent into space.

To teach aliens about humans and our life on planet Earth, Tesla has even added pictures of daily use objects like a stapler to the mosaic.

This immense number of pictures represents human life and their profound memories here on our planet and might sometimes reach the hands of living beings from other planets or galaxies in the far future, a wealth of visual knowledge for them about us humans.

This prize that offered a laser-engraved picture on a Tesla Mosaic was introduced in Tesla’s 2018 referral program.

Later on in 2019, Tesla also added a quarterly prize of a next-gen Tesla Roadster and a monthly prize of a Tesla Model Y. However, these prizes have yet to be disbursed to the winners, perhaps they will be handed over in the near future as Tesla Roadster production is estimated to start next year (2023).

However, Tesla owners who have been able to get their pictures on the Tesla Mosaic going to space on August 4 are happy to get this prize for now. Following are some of them expressing their joy on Twitter:

Someone originally from India was also able to get the superstar celebrity Rajinikanth’s photo on this laser-etched Tesla Mosaic as well.

Korean Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) mission is scheduled to be launched on 4th August 2022 from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will deliver the payload including the Tesla Mosaic to space on this mission.

At the time of this writing, 3 days and 21 hours are remaining in the KPLO launch. Stay tuned and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
