Just before the Cybertruck Delivery Event invites go out in a day or two, Tesla’s Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen appeared at a local vehicle show in Malibu, California. Of course, he was not without a Tesla vehicle.

Franz drove a Cybertruck to this open-air vehicle show. But it was not in its stock stainless steel finish though. This Cybertruck was wrapped in a Matte Black color.

A few short videos of the Matte Black Cybertruck quickly escalated on the social media platform X (Twitter). After the Blue Pixel wrap, Matte Black seems to have gained widespread acceptance among Cybertruck enthusiasts and reservation holders.

Perhaps the videographer did not realize who was driving this Matte Black Cybertruck, otherwise, he would have had a short chit-chat with the Tesla Chief Designer.

In another video of the same Cybertruck, we can see it approaching forward. This angle gives us a good look at the front fascia and the overall look to be reckoned with. The white light strip of the headlights also stands out prominently on a black Cybertruck because of the sharp contrast.

Interestingly, Franz also wrapped the wheels of the Cybertruck in the same matte black tone. IMO, the Matte Black wrap makes the Cybertruck much more appealing and the stock silver stainless steel option less desirable.

However, the popularity of the Cybertruck wraps depends on their extra cost. The cost is expected to be on the higher side as the automaker started offering wraps for its Model 3 electric sedans in a range of $7,500 – $8,000 last month.

Although the Cybertruck has fewer curves compared to a Tesla Model 3, its body is huge in contrast. The wrap service might be less hectic but the amount of material needed would be significantly more than that used on a Tesla Model 3.

Tesla has been putting different Cybertruck wraps out in the public for a few months now. This strongly suggests that the company will offer them as paint options since there won’t be any actual paints for the stainless steel body.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk had already hinted in 2020 that the Cybertruck would have to be wrapped instead of paint options. Let us know in the comments below if you like or dislike the new Matte Black Cybertruck wrap. Will you buy it if it’s within your budget?
