“Dopamine on tap,” is the slogan for Tesla’s Cyberbeast (Cybertruck performance variant). The automaker guarantees a dopamine rush when the Cybertruck competes with any ICE sports car on a dragstrip.
When the Cybertruck was first revealed to the world, Tesla CEO Elon Musk showed the following video of the truck taking a lead over a Porsche 911 in a drag race. But it was 2019 and it was just an early prototype Cybertruck that competed with the Porsche 911.
According to Tesla, the Cybertruck (Cyberbeast) did the quarter-mile in less than 11 seconds and achieved a 0-60 mph acceleration in just 2.6 seconds.

Since it takes a few taps on a center touchscreen to activate the Tesla Bease Mode (or any launch mode), Tesla titled the above video “Dopamine on Tap”.
Fast forward four years and we witnessed another drag racing competition between both of these vehicles during the Cybertruck Delivery Event presentation by Elon Musk once again. The Cybertruck used in this race is a production version and the Porsche 911 is also the latest 2023 model car.
So, both of these vehicles used in the latest drag racing battle have improved over the year and were expected to perform even better.
Before showing the race to the audience present at Giga Texas and hundreds of thousands watching live online, Elon Musk said that Tesla purchased a brand new 2023 Porsche 911 from a dealer for this drag racing event.
What is even more interesting in this drag race is that the Cybertruck is actually towing another Porsche 911. Still, the Cyberbeast Cybetruck was able to beat the Porsche 911 in this drag race.
Tesla introduced a new launch mode for the Cybertruck called Beast Mode. The automaker kept the Plaid Mode for Tesla Model S and Model X Plaid cars. The Beast Mode should be similar to Plaid but Tesla felt the need to rename it to go with the Cybertruck design language.
The top trim of the Cybertruck aka Cyberbeast has a 0-60 mph acceleration of 2.6 seconds.
Cyberbeast acceleration is far superior compared to the competing electric pickup trucks. A Ford F-150 Lightning with the extended range battery only goes just under 4 seconds.
Rivian’s top-tier R1T Quad-Motor AWD with a 0-60 mph number of 3.0 seconds comes the closest to the Cyberbeast variant of the Cybertruck.
The 0-60 mph acceleration figures of a Porsche 911 variate between 2.7s to 4.0 depending on the variant (Carrera, GT3, etc.). Tesla did not specifically mention which 911 was used in this drag race.
