Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk gave an update on the wide release of the new Actually Smart Summon (ASS) feature.

Yesterday, Musk took to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and said, “Tesla Actually Smart Summon going to wide release next week!”.

In the Tesla ASS update 2024.27.20 Release Notes post yesterday, we reported that this feature is currently limited to only a few Tesla vehicles. These owners mostly belong to the original early access beta testers and report their experiences on social media and video streaming platforms regularly.

Since the rollout began on Tuesday, only 1 Tesla owner out of more than 20K on TeslaFi.com reported getting the new Tesla Actually Smart Summon update version 2024.27.20. Tesla is still very cautious in releasing this feature to a wider circle of Tesla owners. Misuse of the feature and software bugs might result in safety issues and hurt Tesla’s brand image as well.

Tesla Actually Smart Summon is currently available on both Hardware 4 (HW4/AI4) and HW3-equipped Tesla vehicles. We will cover its performance on HW3 in an upcoming post, so stay tuned.

Elon Musk posted the update for a wide release of Tesla Actually Smart Summon (ASS) while quoting a video of the test of this newly-launched autonomous driving feature inside a Costco parking lot. Tesla Model Y navigated the busy parking lot all by itself and safely reached its owner (learn how to use the Tesla ASS feature).

Before testing it at Costco, FSD Supervised beta tester AI DRIVER/YouTube posted his first impressions review of Tesla ASS while summoning his car in a parking lot.

Interestingly, AI DRIVR tested the Tesla ASS functionality for the first at night. Summoning your Tesla vehicle in the dark was therefore tried and tested successfully. However, this parking lot was almost empty in this test.
