Tesla has re-launched the FSD Early Access Program (EAP) in the United States. The automaker has opened and closed this early access to non-employees multiple times in the past.

In the previous waves of allowing access to new builds of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) software was rather limited to social media influencers and Tesla YouTubers. However, this time, the wave is looking a bit wider compared to before.

Non-influencer Tesla owners are also reporting getting the option to get onboard the new FSD Early Access Program. Most of these reports are posted on social media, especially Elon Musk-owned X (formerly Twitter).

How to Join the FSD Early Access Program

Actually, there is not much you can or should on your end to join the Tesla FSD Early Access Program. If the system chooses you (your vehicle), it will ask you to join the program.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the option to enroll in the FSD (Supervised) Early Access Program appears on the main screen of the Tesla mobile app.

Although it’s going out to a wider Tesla owners group, some owners from that belong to early adopters still didn’t get the option to enroll in the FSD EAP.

Apparently, only the HW4/AI4 Tesla vehicle owners are getting the invitation to join the FSD EAP. We will update when we find an HW3/AI3 owner successfully enrolls in the program.

What Data Tesla is Asking to Enroll in the FSD Early Access Program

When you tap the “Enroll in FSD (Supervised) Early Access Program” on the main screen, you’re taken to the next step of joining the program where Tesla gives you the following details and asks for data access from your car.

Enroll to experience early features before they’re widely released. Provide your feedback and related vehicle data to help make the next release our best yet. Note, every driver is responsible for remaining alert and must be prepared to take action at any time.

To enroll in the FSD EAP, Tesla is asking car owners to provide data from the vehicle’s external and internal cameras as well as their GPS location data.

The tech & AI automaker is also asking for historical vehicle driving data to determine the final eligibility of the driver to join the program.

You need to grant Tesla the following data permissions and agree to the terms and conditions to get access to early builds of the Full Self-Driving software:

  • To determine eligibility, I allow Tesla to review my historical vehicle data.
  • While enrolled, I consent to the collection of detailed VIN-associated vehicle data, including GPS location, external camera data, and cabin camera image data.
