Tesla update 2025.20.3 enables Service Mode noise recording for older Teslas with Intel Atom and AMD Ryzen processors

The 2025.20.3 Tesla over-the-air (OTA) software update doesn’t just make improvements for the driver/vehicle users; it comes with some internal upgrades as well.

Some variants and older Tesla vehicles did not have the Service Mode Noise Recording Panel available on them. Older Tesla Model S, X, 3, and Y cars with the Intel Atom GPU and some vehicles with the new AMD Ryzen APU infotainment processors lacked the noise recording ability in Tesla Service Mode.

Noise recording in Service Mode allows recording of powertrain noises to help diagnose the issues with the system. Tesla vehicle microphones help record these noises if the car has the Noise Recording Panel app, which is available in Service Mode (after the 2025.20.3 update, it’s now available on almost all Teslas).

Some Tesla Software Updates have two versions of release notes, one for the vehicle users and one for service personnel. Since Tesla now allows self-repair and service of its vehicles, the Service Mode release notes are accessible to vehicle owners.

We have already posted the 2025.20.3 Release Notes with all the documented and undocumented features already. The following Service Model Release Notes are for the new Noise Recording Panel update in 2025.20.3.

Noise Recording Panel Updates (Service Mode Plus) – Available on Info-Atom and Info-Ryzen

The Noise Recording Panel is now available on all vehicles equipped with Info-Atom and Info-Ryzen infotainment hardware. This panel adds the ability to record powertrain noise using the vehicle microphones and related vehicle metrics. The recordings can also be downloaded to a computer using dedicated action, and the recordings are deleted when exiting Service Mode.

Applies to: Model S (2021-2020), Model 3, Model X 2015-2020), and Model Y
