After US factories, Giga Berlin-made Tesla Model Ys drive themselves to the outbound lot using FSD

Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company, Tesla (TSLA), is implementing real-world AI, and factory automation is a big part of this objective.

Tesla has one of the largest and most complex car manufacturing plants in the automotive industry. The automaker calls them Gigafactories.

In Tesla’s terms, factory automation is not just related to machines and robots. Earlier this year, at the Giga Texas factory, Tesla demonstrated its cars delivering themselves from the production line to the outbound lot fully autonomously.

Later, this autonomous delivery method, utilizing Autopilot Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology, was implemented at the Tesla Fremont car factory.

The tech & AI-based automaker has now released a new video that shows its Tesla Model Y electric SUVs delivering themselves to the outbound loading dock autonomously. Interestingly, in the middle, these vehicles also stop for Supercharging before finally parking themselves at the outbound lot.

Giga Berlin is Tesla’s 3rd Gigafactory after Giga Texas and the Fremont factory to have the ability to deliver vehicles fully autonomously after production completion to the outbound lot for shipping to Tesla showrooms.

During the self-delivery process, Tesla vehicles display a “Self Driving” sign on the center display of the vehicle. At Giga Texas, Cybertrucks also deliver themselves out of the factory via the Cybertunnel in addition to Model Ys.

Tesla has even delivered a Tesla Model Y to a customer from Giga Texas autonomously using Autopilot FSD. But this is not happening a mass level yet, like factory self-deliveries to the shipping lots.

Cybertruck Spotted at Giga Berlin

As the demonstration vehicle was headed to its destination outside Giga Berlin, it had an unexpected encounter with the Cybertruck. The Model Y running on FSD stopped for the Cybertruck crossing it from the left side.

This is how the recording camera gave us a clue to the Cybertruck’s presence at Giga Berlin. Although it’s not road-legal in Europe yet, Tesla can operate Cybertrucks inside its factory premises (which are huge, btw).

The Giga Belin Cybertruck is clearly labeled as a ‘Support Vehicle’. This means that the Cybertruck, in addition to working at SpaceX Starbase, is helping with tasks at Giga Berlin as well.
