Tesla (TSLA) has pushed FSD v14.2 Lite to a wide range of legacy Tesla cars with Hardware 3 (HW3) computers. The automaker released this update widely after a few days of initial testing and data analysis.
The FSD v14.2 Lite is the third installment of FSD v14 for older HW3 Tesla cars that can’t process the more robust versions of Full Self-Driving built for Teslas with Hardware 4 (HW4) or later-generation inference computers.
Before Tesla started releasing the FSD v14 Lite updates, HW3 car owners were stuck on subversions of FSD v12 for more than a year.
The firmware version of FSD v14.2 Lite is 2026.27.6, which is the same as FSD v14.3.9 for HW4 cars.
Tesla hasn’t added any new information or noted changes in the FSD v14.2 Lite release notes from the previous versions. You can read the complete FSD v14 Lite Official Release Notes with new feature details here.
FSD v14.2 Lite: Rollout Status
The tech & AI-based automaker started the FSD v14.2 Lite rollout with firmware version 2027.26.5. This firmware version is still the most widely distributed amonth HW3 Teslas as of this writing.
However, the transition to the latest 2026.27.6 firmware version has already begun. In the coming days and weeks, most of the FSD v14 Lite users will be move to 2026.27.6.
Including FSD v14.3.9 and FSD v14.2 Lite, the 2026.27.5 and 2026.27.6 updates are now installed on around 10% of the Tesla FSD-enabled fleet (source: TeslaFi.com).

With the FSD Lite updates, Tesla has found a way to keep older cars in the loop on new developments and features.
For example, the following video is of a Tesla Model 3 purchased 7 years ago. After getting the FSD v14.2 Lite update, it can now navigate a covered parking space on its own. It even swerves to avoid a car illegally changing lanes from the left.
