Austin, Houston, Tulsa — the war for Tesla’s Cybertruck Gigafactory is ON

Since Elon Musk announced that Tesla will be moving its HQ from California to Texas or Nevada, the race for the next Tesla destination has accelerated. Besides that Tesla is also actively seeking the best possible location for its next Cybertruck Terafactory (capable of producing 1,000 GWh of battery-capacity or one terawatt-hour).

Central US, especially Texas is the largest market for pickup trucks, and with an existing SpaceX launch pad in Boca Chica, the probability of choosing the Texas state is more imminent.

But since a Tesla representative also visited the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma last week according to a CNBC report — the Mayor of Tulsa and the Tesla enthusiasts from the city are also lobbying to get Elon Musk’s attention for the Cybertruck plant.

Mayor of Tulsa even offered Elon Musk if the plant is built in his city, the local government will only be buying the Tesla Cybertruck for the police department and wherever possible.

Even though the probability of choosing Austin seems strong if the state remains Texas but the Mayor of Houston did not miss the chance and wrote a detailed invitation letter to Elon Musk on why Tesla should choose Austin over any other city.

Today, the Mayor G. T. Bynum and hundreds of Tesla owners, enthusiasts, and citizens from the city of Tulsa have gathered at the Expo Square in front of the Golden Driller statue that has now been affixed with a Tesla T logo and the face has been wrapped to look like Tesla CEO Elon Musk — in hopes of bringing the Tesla factory to their city.

There is only one problem in Texas that could result in Tesla dropping the state in favor of Oklahoma is the restriction on automotive companies directly selling their cars to customers, Texas does not allow that, you need a dealer to be in the mix.

Let’s see how how all of this ends up, personally I vote for Tulsa, as they seem more welcoming and even running the #Tulsa4Tesla hashtag, good news is not too far away, stay tuned.

  1. I really hope the Security and Exchange Commission has a notebook handy. This is how he deserves to be treated.
