The new Cybertruck photos and short video clips from inside the Tesla Gigafactory in Austin, Texas have spread like wildfire on social media after they were posted to a Facebook group. Tesla has brought the Cybertruck to Giga Texas as the company is preparing to release its Q4 2021 and full year 2021 earnings this coming Wednesday (26th Jan 2022).

Some Tesla enthusiasts think that the Cybertruck was sent to Giga Texas even for some design tweaks. But I think the design is mostly final, yes, the engineers need the prototype at this facility to study it deeper and prepare the machines for production also known as machine calibration.

Also, the investors and visitors for the next earnings call will also be able to witness the Cybertruck firsthand.

The original prototype shown at the time of the launch had cameras installed instead of side-view mirrors. Now as production nears, the mirrors are visible on the prototype, it’s easy to meet regulations and Tesla can not afford to further delay production due to regulatory approval issues.

One interesting point to notice is the wheels of the Cybertruck in these pics and videos (below). The wheel covers with the stone-scale type texture are missing here, they look like are taken from the skin of Ben Grimm (The Thing from Fantastic Four character).

Without the wheel covers, these closely match the pattern of the Model 3 wheels without the aero covers.

A large single windshield wiper is also visible in the photo above. Previously, it was believed that the Cybertruck will come with the laser windshield cleaners but looks like that is also going to be on the back burner for a while now.

Giga Texas local observer Joe Tegtmeyer was also able to source a longer version of the Cybertruck video from inside the factory, most probably shot by an employee and posted anonymously on Facebook.

Although these videos do not have audio, the source video has captions written on it, the one saying “it looks like a giant stainless steel fridge,” is my favorite. Let’s take a look at a couple of more short clips for pure delight.

The last time we saw the Cybertruck prototype, it was at the Tesla Fremont, California factory making test runs for acceleration and speed calibration.

We should be expecting an update on the Giga Texas Model Y as well as Cybertruck production during Wednesday’s earnings call — so stay tuned as we post a detailed update.

Joe Tegtmeyer captured the moment when Tesla delivered the Cybertruck prototype to Giga Texas in his yesterday’s drone flyover above the factory, let’s watch.
