Cybertruck spotted wrapped as a Tundra pickup truck — after Ford, Tesla trolls Toyota (video)

Until the Cybertruck Delivery Event concludes later this year, Tesla is on a fun mission on the side — trolling other automakers.

And Tesla is not doing this without a reason, as we saw in the case of the Ford F-150-wrapped Cybertruck. It was an answer to Ford CEO Jim Farley who called out Musk last year at the F-150 Lightning presentation.

Now Tesa turns its attention towards Toyota. Along with the Ford F-150, the Japanese automaker’s Tundra pickup truck is a direct competitor to the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck. Therefore it’s good to poke some fun at the competition.

Tesla intentionally chose to wrap the Cybertruck in green color to troll the Toyota Tundra as it’s an internal combustion engine (ICE) pickup truck. Like the previous F-150-wrapped Cybertruck, this new Tundra-wrapped one was spotted near the Tesla Engineering HQ in Palo Alto, California.

Tesla pasted the front and rear light stickers of a Toyota Tundra over the Cybertruck wrap to give a hint at what vehicle they are trolling right now. Joe from Cybertruck Owners Club took a short video of the Tundra-wrapped that shows it from both front and rear.

Honestly, Cybertruck is looking good in the green shade Tesla has used to wrap it like a Tundra. Social media comments by reservation holders are mostly praising the combination of this specific green with black accents on bumpers, windows, wheels, and side mirrors.

In the above pic and video, the design of the wheels of this green-wrapped Cybertruck is not clearly visible. But in a later sighting by a Tesla enthusiast, the v-spoke design of the alloy wheels is clearly visible as the truck is parked. Interestingly, these new wheels also mimic the stock wheel design of the Toyota Tundra.

However, not everyone is a fan of this Tundra-themed green color wrap on a Cybertruck. Tesla YouTuber and influencer Tesla Raj totally disliked this wrap and expressed his distaste in a comment under the above photo tweet.

So, we were talking about the reason Tesla’s Elon Musk decided to troll Toyota. It’s not just the competition in the pickup truck market. It’s about the history of these companies together as well.

In the early days of the Tesla IPO, in 2010, Toyota invested $50 million dollars in Tesla. Both companies also showed a commitment to accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation. But as years passed Toyota started pulling its investment away from Tesla (TSLA). And, by the end of 2016, before Tesla started mass production of its Model 3 compact luxury sedan, Toyota had pulled all of its shares from the then-California-based electric automaker.

So, a little trolling does no harm to Toyota but reminds them of the past, they could’ve multiplied their investment manyfold if they stayed until after the success of the Tesla Model 3.
