Tesla (TSLA) released FSD v12.4.3 (firmware version 2024.15.15) to its employees on the Autopilot testing team last week.

After the mixed reviews and limited release of the v12.4.2, Tesla FSD early access owners had been waiting for the next update with significant improvements.

According to Tesla software rollout tracking websites TeslaFi and TeslaScope, the automaker has pushed a 2nd big wave of FSD v12.4.3 to a batch of new users. Looking at the data from both websites, more than 500 Tesla owners in North America have received the 12.4.3 update as of this writing.

Tesla is making a wide release of an FSD 12 update after a long time. The last wide release was FSD v12.3.6. After that, the tech automaker kept a cautious approach and gave the updates to a limited non-employee circle that mostly belonged to YouTubers and selected social media influencers.

Tesla vehicles running on software update version 2024.20 or a newer sub-version of this release are not eligible to receive the FSD v12.4.3. These vehicles will need to get a subsequent update that enables the installation of FSD 12.4.3 (2024.15.15).

Tesla is holding the non-FSD feature-packed upcoming update version 2024.26 — this OTA update or another before it should be the one to enable FSD v12.4.3 on vehicles currently not on FSD (Supervised).

The wide release of FSD v12.4.3 shows the automaker’s confidence in this update. It should be significantly better than the previous version to get good reviews from the beta testers.

Some YouTubers have already received this update and published their first impression videos. Whole Mars Catalog (X/Twitter) posted a ~24-minute video of FSD v12.4.3 driving in the streets of San Francisco with zero interventions/disengagements (watch below).

“My first drive with Tesla FSD 12.4.3 was zero intervention, though it wasn’t able to find a spot to pull over at the end. It looks like completely hands-free self-driving is ready for wide release!” Whole Mars wrote his first impression of the drive on this version.

According to Whole Mars/Omar, FSD v12.4.3 has improved in making human-like decisions. This version of FSD is also quicker and more confident. Wherever it needs to accelerate according to the traffic scenario, it accelerates quickly and confidently.

Quick decision-making improvement was first observed in the FSD v12.4.1 update at Chuck Cook’s difficult unprotected left turn (UPL).
